Let's not get all crayzee there. The transfer process has been carefully constructed to encourage stabiPFFFFFFFTTTTTT. Excuse me... I just farted another blue-chip waiver.
 
Does that mean players have to be (will be) paid by a school's AA whenever they put their picture on stuff like programs, schedules, or signage in and around the stadium? Or does this only apply for stuff external to the AA/school?

Assume it's outside sources and also any jersey sales in the bookstore with their name on the back.
 
Wow! The National Cartel of Athletic Avarice caved in quickly. Why? Because it wants to define and shape the landscape of big time college sports. Don’t pass laws to allow players to see what the endorsement market will pay them. Trust us. We will define what is acceptable pay. We will adjust while making sure SEC and Big 10 and a handful of other programs stay on top in football and Duke and UNC stay at the top of basketball.
 
Well the US congress getting involved will save the NCAA from having to fight with conflicting state laws. I hope that they move the timing up. Don't want to wait till '23 to see what happens. Don't see any mechanism to keep a lid on the bidding wars. Congress will have to modify Title IX or scholarships in other sports will disappear.

Good call. However we can’t forget that this will not be schools paying these kids. But boosters.

Question will be if people give more money directly to players in some form instead of through the school, thus lowering the athletic association revenue and possibly making it harder to maintain other sports.

Reduce football schollies down to 75. More parity across teams due to fewer spots and 10 schollies for a women's sport of your choice. Next take the names off the retail jerseys and no issue with royalties/license fees. Hell there are still teams that don't put names on the players' jerseys and I'm cool with that too
 
- how are the teammates going to react to this? More "look out" blocks for underperforming superstar RB or QB?

- how are certain fan bases going to react to a business enterprise that has been paying a S/A when the kid does the unthinkable like fumbling on the one yard line vs. Arch Enemy U?

- anyone thinking that within 5 years there wont be a law requiring a female S/A to get an equal endorsement deal as the highest paid male S/A has not paid attention the last 30 years.

So would this apply to co-op and summer intern students? Taxes, taxes for everybody.

However I do agree that athletes that get paid should absolutely have to report that as income to the IRS. Can't wait until a star athlete gets popped for tax evasion because they forgot to report some $5 signature.
