Here's a better idea. Hire someone who has actually accomplished something in the previous 20 years.
It just doesn’t work like that tho.. look at Miami they think their OC sucks and it’s enos coming from Bama winning titles..

in reality their o-line is mediocre along with QB talent

And just to be clear, I think our defense did a fantastic job tonight. They were actually fun to watch, which is a nice departure from the last 10 years.

But the offense was just bad. The players played hard, but the offensive game plan was all-around poor. IIWII.
I don't know if you were at the game. I was...just got home a while ago.
The size differential between our lines and Pitt was huge. They spent most of their time in our backfield and if I was going to pick one thing to criticize our offense game plan about, it's that we have to roll out Graham and give him a run pass option on the edge. They sent 5 and 6 all day long and he looked like he is...a freshman QB with a porous offensive line.

I actually liked what I saw today on the offensive side. We showed multiple personnel groupings, had players in the proper position, but the complete dumpster fire that is our offensive line doesn’t allow any of it to work. Graham had no time to throw and was running for his life. Mason is a beast but he can’t shed two defenders every play. We lost because of a fumble at the one yard line and because we have no kicker. Our defense looks better every week. They are playing fast and make plays. This is my favorite defense in over a decade if not more. Our special teams are better than they’ve been in a long time outside of the kicker position. Our defense is better. Our offense is learning, but will continue to sputter until we bring in new guys. I’m more excited today than I was yesterday because it’s now been 2 games in a row where we’ve shown up and we’re in a position to have a chance at the end. If Lucas doesn’t fumble who knows.

Pat has no resume. No record of success.
In baseball, such personnel are referred to as journeymen.

Just look at Pitt. Narduzzi has the balls to fire his OC and hire Marc Whipple.

We don't need another Rip Scherer or Pat Nix or Sewak or Pat.
I am not exactly happy with our OC. You don’t fire the guy now. Also, you don’t fire the guy really, you help him move on if you feel he needs to go. Not excited about him but also know he isn’t working with Brady and the Patriots. Firing him after this year breeds negative juju. Juju and juice.... being perfect at that is exactly what GT has to do. Firing him brings questions on hiring him and CGC doesn’t make bad hires. Get with it bro.

You know how that happens? Signing just 6 o-lineman 2017,2018, and 2019 classes and now with injuries it’s the walk-on brigade

And losing Parker Braun sucked
In the last 10 years CU has averaged signing 18 OL & DL per year.

We have averaged 10 OL & DL per year.

Now they didn’t all work out, some quit, some went home - for both schools.

But have to wonder if those extra 80 OL & DL might have some impact?

And our kids are fighting their guts out. A lot of credit for that goes to the Ga Tech coaches.

Thank heavens CPJ was smart enough to know the jig was up and quit.

I don’t remember tech ever signing 10 lineman in a class ever tbh bro besides this class 2020

My feeling is that Graham's lack of progress on short throws (he throws a pretty deep ball, though) is due to bad footwork/fundamentals. My question, then, is whether we have a good QB coach who is working on that with him. And if we don't, we need to get one fast in the offseason. Not so much for Graham's sake alone, but because QB play is just essential to team success and I want to see the guys who follow in his place like Yates and Gleason succeed.

I've seen enough of Lucas Johnson.

I believe they can play Yates three more games before they burn up his redshirt. I'd give him a couple of series in the next three games as a diagnostic to see where he's at heading into the offseason. No need to throw him into the fire against UgA, but I think playing UVA, VT, and NC State would be a good sampling to see how far along he is and what he needs to work on.

The O-line still isn't great and third and long remains a death sentence for anyone taking a snap, but they're managing to open up cracks just big enough for a top flight back like Mason to work with.

The defense has played inspired ball the past couple of weeks and it's amazing to see how well the D-line is holding up under the circumstances. It's just a shame the O is so far behind the curve right now that it feels like the team has to get a non-offensive touchdown every game for the team to have a chance.

I have not been particularly happy with our OC but today I thought he had some imaginative calls. Running Mason on 3rd down - good call. He had other good calls. The oline does suffer and struggles. With that said, I thought #4 today was awful. He was just off target. Missed several passes. It showed when #7 came in and began throwing more accurately and the offense began moving the ball. Unfortunately he made a critical error at the goal line and was hurt as well. I'm not saying he is the answer but it was clear today that inaccurate passing was our achilles heal. And wouldn't you know #4's first pass (and second best pass) was dropped in what would have been a big play. I hope we can find a QB. Right now we are struggling at the most important position.

In fairness to this thread many were questioning if our field goal/xp kickers got any coaching last year. I’d like to believe they got coaching last year and this year just many times people say stupid things. Please discuss.

I wouldn’t let either one of them see the field form another field goal. Either go for it or pooch it.

Coach Pat reminds me of Homer Simpson.

Can we just bite the bullet, fire the guy and get a real OC?

We are never going to progress with this doofus running our offense.
I felt that way earlier in the season but now I’m not so sure. I’ve seen enough improvement in the offense that I’ve gotta give the guy some credit. Graham just didn’t have the best game today. Missed some easy throws with plenty of time, and missed several big reads as well. I thought we had a scheme to win the game today but just didn’t execute it.

I’m of the thinking that LJ got his bell rung pretty good by a good lick. Can’t excuse fumbles but he was out because of the hit afterwards imo. I have a hard time placing all of the blame on that play towards him.

This is the same tired bullshit after every loss. Everyone but the Johnson defenders knows that his recruiting sucked but was somewhat masked by the scheme. Everyone also knows that we have to recruit our way out of the hole we are in. Nick Saban would suck with this roster.

We were within 10 because of a heroic effort from our defense. Props to CGC and our defensive coaches for that. We're a couple of pass rushers away from being a really good defense.

But offensively that was just awful. Please stop taking moral victories because we managed a whopping 10 points against the mighty Pitt Panthers. Remember the last time Pitt turned it over a bunch of times against us? I do. We scored 28 points in the FIRST FIVE MINUTES and the game was over. We had plenty of chances to take control of that game today and we couldn't. Not just compete. ööööing take control and win it. But we couldn't even make first downs when we needed to.
You keep sarcastically saying things like "the mighty pitt panthers." You do realize they are a top 15 defense right? Our offense is in the bottom 15. No amount of play calling can solve that.
