Decent chance the OL # winds up less than 7.
I think WE still don't appreciate how different our recruiting approach is and that expectation should be different. The old staff lost a recruit or two but most that were actually committed stayed committed for 2 reasons: 1) Johnson told recruits to only commit if they were 100% sure and didn't like them to take other visits 2) we were their best Power 5 offer. Are we cooling on someone or are they cooling on us?
Interesting take. The few I have not seen anything on are Green, Behrens, and Ward.No I think there are likely a couple of commits who have not progressed as we hoped and who maybe aren't takes for us anymore.
Except on the OL. No maintaining numbers with that unit.Another thought on this staff so far...I wonder if ‘reaches’ will come into play very often. CPJ liked to balance classes and would in my opinion drop to a plan C sometimes to maintain certain numbers per class. The current guys are recruiting so well that I wonder if they would be less likely to do that. If we lose a commit late, then potentially we just opt to save that ship for next season and resist the urge to dip down to a lower tier.
Makes sense. We took some early commits based on raw measurables and potential. I would imagine they were made aware of the contingencies. No I think there are likely a couple of commits who have not progressed as we hoped and who maybe aren't takes for us anymore.
Had a bad year statistically, but his HS had a bizarre season. Played a brutal schedule and were basically blown out in their first 6 games. His O-line was completely overmatched and he was scrambling most plays and not doing much else. Then they won their last 4 games in routs and his passing stats picked up. They actually made the playoffs at 4-6 due to strength of schedule and Florida high school football being weird. His film doesn't give me cause for concern.Anyone know how well Tucker Gleason has done this year. I’ve looked but couldn’t much.
The only thing I found was a list of the top 20 QBs in his county/area with the best passing stats and he wasn’t among them. The article only included a picture of him getting sacked, which concerned me. Sounds like his senior season was similar to Collins’ first season at GT.Had a bad year statistically, but his HS had a bizarre season. Yeah, his stats were bad, but the fact that we didnt rush out to get another QB recruit tells me the staff is unconcerned. His comp % and rushing stats were fine, but TDs and passing yards were way down. The only thing I found was a list of the top 20 QBs in his county/area with the best passing stats and he wasn’t among them. yeahbut I need cash now!In George Godsey's first season, he went 8 for 19 for only 89 yards. In his 2nd season, he did even worse, going 5 for 13 for 54 yards. That is a completion percentage of 38.5% and 4.7 yards per attempt. One of those 13 passes was an interception. None were touchdowns his first two seasons.
I remember he had tremendous pass rush pressure on him when he came in. I also suspect most here would have given up on him and tried to drive him away. Instead, we went on to have two monster seasons as a junior and senior.
Gleason will be fine. Yates will be fine. And unless the coaches see reasons to give up on Graham or Johnson, they will be fine, too.
his highlight film says it all, the kids got a great arm and is a tough runner, problems with his OL and coaching has hurt him stat-wiseYeah, his stats were bad, but the fact that we didnt rush out to get another QB recruit tells me the staff is unconcerned. 98% of them. How many of our commits will sign on the early signing date?
So 24 1/2 out of 25?98% of them.
