Juanyeh Thomas

This is delusional. The talent disparity is glaring. They are more talented and deeper at every single position.
South Carolina sucks and beat them with their 3rd string QB playing nearly the entire game.

What'd you expect? You're seeing a bunch of guys that haven't had anyone teaching them football except for the previous 11 months.

We've literally not HAD a ST coach before this year. thankfully, we finally are seeing some actual attention to D & ST. It'll pay dividends down the road.

In addition to other comments, UGA is also just a bad matchup for us. They shut down the run and should be able to run at will on us. We do better (in general) if a team has a poor running attack.

Nope. There’s been several years in there that I could pick out players that I’d take from GT over their counterpart at UGA. There is not one single position that I’d say that now.

I’m proud of how our guys are fighting, but it’s just the reality.

95% agree. Pressley Harvin kicks ass and I would much rather have him.

I am also very proud of our guys for fighting this year but the talent disparity is rough right now. Juanyeh and Mason would get some playing time on uga but most of our team wouldn’t - especially on the lines.

CGC took the blame for the J Thomas fair catch. Don’t know if it was something he said before he went out or if J Thomas was unprepared since he hadn’t returned many punts this year.

Agree, he is as physically talented as a player on any team.

We aren’t beating UGA this year, but I’m getting more optimistic that we won’t set a scoring record.

That’s the only position that’s even close, and I’ve seen both punt. I’d still take their guy. I’m going based on this year’s performance.

I think Carpenter, Swilling and Walton would play some for UGA.

On offense, Brown would. Mason is very good but UGA is so deep at RB.

I saw that too. CGC specifically told Juanyeh when he came off the field, "That was my fault."

I think the better way to put this is: "I personally don't think we'll win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did". Saying we may as just give up when the team is playing their asses off is crazy. Several times over the last few years I have seen our sideline against uGA look like a bag of dead fish with defeated looks on their faces before the game ever started and it's tough to win a game when no one seems to give a damn about it like they should. It certainly won't be that way this time around and going forward. I am sure we could beat South Carolina on a decent day - why couldn't we beat the mutts?

Much different (and better) than how the last guy handled it!
Dabo has reamed many players who needed to understand they'd made a dumb mistake, and I think everyone would agree that he's a players' coach. I have no idea why JT caught that ball, and I definitely don't understand why it would be Collins' fault, but I've got no problem with making it clear that someone did something that was unacceptable.

Still have to put your hand in the dirt and do it.
Yep. We've beaten them many times despite that disparity, and we'll do it again. We just hired a coach specifically to reduce that disparity, so hopefully we'll see less 2017/2018 UGA-GT and more 2009/2014 UGA-GT.

If you are not going to get away from Peter, you should at least make a clean catch, which he did.

I didn't watch the game, but coaching your punt returner not to catch it inside the 5 is pretty basic. For all the emphasis on special teams, how did the coaches miss something like that?

There was some Paul Johnson criticism in this thread. Plenty of boneheaded special teams plays under him. But his staff at least used to coach guys to put their heels on like the 10 and not back up.

#1 priority should be not fumbling or getting hit with the ball
#2 priority should be not catching it inside the 5
