Coach Brent Key

He went Winless as an OC at UCF... as our Oline Coach he has helped us to two Wins... has recruited zero 5 or 4 star lineman...
He has under coached / perfromed like the rest of offensive Coaching staff

The question is why?? is OC Patnut the problem or who??

Guess who had more freshman starters and injuries than us in 2015? Thats right, UCF.

He couldn’t even retain the best lineman on his line.

He has potential. He’s certainly getting paid like a big time coach. I honestly hope he turns our line into a war machine, both through recruiting and coaching. I think we’ve seen progress, but we still aren’t even playing as well as the worst Sewak OL yet. We’ll see what happens and it’s way too early to even suggest he’s failing, but he still has a long way to go before he’s as successful as he needs to be.

Sometimes players want to leave. Good on Coach Collins for not being butthurt and blocking Parker from it...like the last guy did.

Everyone knows the OL isn't where it needs to be. Was that the point? That's a pretty fair point but not particularly interesting.

the point was that people keep saying Key is this outstanding recruiter and amazing coach, but he couldn’t sell the program to someone that was already here

You say his oline isn’t where it needs to be

Do either of those things mean he sucks at recruiting or sucks at coaching? Certainly not, but it’s dumb to scoff when someone says the jury is still out on him

So Key needs to go because Parker Braun left? Dumbass.

How many of his OL have signed NFL contracts? I lost count a few years ago but I seem to remember around 15-20 before he joined Bammer. He's going to have an eventual HOF lineman (Josh Sitton).

As for recruiting, I'm not particularly concerned about OL star numbers because he is a great evaluater of talent. His recruiting talents will be seen in the skill positions and will shine on signing day when the players sign.

A+ hedging right here.

So I have you saying the jury is still out. And I have Mover of Fridge II saying he is impressed just with what he has done with our patchwork roster and former OL validating his present and previous work.

When it comes to OL, I know less than a fifth grader. But when it comes to Stingtalk posters, I know enough to know which posters I trust to fairly evaluate our OL staff and sorry to say you are BTL.

anyone who doesn't see the effect Key's had on our newb'ish OL at this point is braindead or a butthurt Johnsonian.

Key deserves no praise whatsoever. He'll have a chance to redeem himself next year, like the rest of the coaches. It's a failure in year 1 to lose to a mediocre FCS team, the worst loss in program history. Key had enough to work with to not let that happen. Going 2-6 in the rest of the schedule doesn't really make up for it, though a UGA win would.

I believe in Coach Collins but Key's record so far from my standpoint is (1) tweeting something inappropriate that got picked up by the news and made us look bad, and (2) an unacceptable loss to the Citadel.

Also, for reference:

What did he tweet?
I really like Key. I loved his interview at the beginning of the season when a reporter asked him something to the effect of “How can you win here?” implying it couldn’t be done. You could tell that really pissed him off. He said something to the effect, “We’re going to build something special here, and you will understand.”
It’s obvious the guy is good. Look how much the OL improved this past week.
Once he and Collins get some size in here on the OL, Graham may be the best dual threat QB by his Jr. and Sr. years we’ve had since Hamilton.
Brent Key was the best hire Collins made IMO.
