Very interesting take from PJ, as far as how he did the best he could, given the restrictions at Tech and how the school didn't give the athletic dept much help financially. Basically stuff we already know but it's good to hear it from Coach Johnson. I think you gents will find it thought-provoking and just a great interview.

I agree with that. It’s not an easy job.

I do like where we are now in terms of having a coach that seems to be a people pleaser. That will hopefully help with getting support from the school, boosters and local media. Paul was not a people pleaser in that way. He was funny while we were winning and not funny when we weren’t and always an asshole.

You can tell in the interview how it was night and day how he felt towards D-RAD and MBOB. One AD cared about football and PJ, the other liked basketball more and didn't care for PJ. So there are internal struggles there. He goes on to say he doesn't believe no one is intentionally trying to hold Georgia Tech back from success. It's just a money issue.

I will always appreciate and love him for beating Georgia. I want of the weirdos that would go 1-11 every single year if the one was UGA.

Johnson is wise and he's right, the money more than anything holds us back. 13th of 14 in ACC budgets is disgraceful. Duke with 3x the recruiting staff is disgraceful. With a good AD in Stansbury, and Collins trying to make Tech Atlanta's team, there is hope.

Johnson may share some blame though in not marketing the team more and pushing more for money. It wasn't fully in his control but it wasn't fully out of his control either. Collins seems more the salesperson.

I liked CPJ way before he came to GT. I've been a GT fan ever since I can remember. I need CPJ to go full heel and figure out a way to trash talk GT just enough that to spite him they open up the purse and go all in. Maybe a book and tour event to let him get some publicity. Get a few spots on the ACCN. Get his name leaked for some of these high profile job openings just to get another run in the news cycle. Make GT great again.

After that, I want to see CPJ coach at a school that wants to win and lets him get nasty with his offense again. I know he said it'd take a perfect scenario. Going back to Ga Southern would be nice. Based on comments here, they still like him there. He could have them winning that conference again and getting the bid as highest G6 team bid to bowl. I also think he'd be great at NC State. That fan base seems like they could embrace him and his style. Selfishly, I just wanna know all the other schools that have called him over the years toying with the idea of going flexbone.

We better get our ass in gear. The coastal is wide open every year and we are blowing our shot.

Listening to this, Paul talks alot about stadium sizes, but I don't see how we could get 30k more seats in Bobby Dodd, in either space or dollars.

Kyle Field it. We can fit a few more Upper Norths onto the Upper North.

Programs that need 90,000 seats sell 90,000 tickets and have a large fan base that gives money.

PJ definitely did not make good inroads with some of the people that matter most. His scheme was polarizing to begin with and he seemed to treat the political side of his job as a sideshow to what he really wanted to do: call the game. The opportunity for more money and flexibility were always there. Stansbury and Collins got it done before the ink was dry.
