Time To Move On - Tom Petty

2020 schedule

ACC-
Home: Duke, Miami, UVA, Clemson
Away: UNC, Pitt, VPI, Syracuse

non-conference-
9.12- vs Gardner Webb
9.19- vs UCF
11.14- vs Notre Dame @MBS
11.28- @ UGA

——
I don’t even want to revisit yesterday, its over. NCSt presents the possibility of a win, and THWG.

So I’m moving on to 2020, looking at the date of the GW game, our first game of the season will once again be a conference game.

As with this season, 6-6 will be a difficult achievement. We should be a better football team, which should correlate into 2-3 more wins next season.

Yeah, the 2020 schedule is a total beast. I welcome the challenge, but with how soft our fan base appears to be we could have used a few more sure wins.

Hell, we’ve made it such a habit of bad OOC losses that it’s hard to know how to schedule. I think only JT was immune to this under CPJ.

2019 - Temple L, Citadel L
2018 - USF L
2017 - Tennessee L
2013 - BYU L
2012 - MTSU L, BYU L
2010 - Kansas L

Maybe we should ask Virginia Tech how to schedule? They have played a daunting OOC slate of Furman, Old Dominion and Richmond to pair with their one tough game against Notre Dame. Miami paired their game against Florida with Bethune Cookman, Central Michigan and FIU...most teams do this.

We’re actually one of the few programs who adds a bunch of quality teams on top of playing a top 10 team like the Gaggers every year. It’s fun if you win them.

The Great Matt Rhule’s OOC schedule this year for comparison...

Stephen F Austin (the team not the person)
UTSA
Rice

9 conference games

Yeah, that was a stinker yesterday. Over it! Just recruit baby! This season does NOT define GT and it's greatness. Also does not define our potential.

We need to add schools like Rice, Old Dominion, FIU, Tulane, Uconn, ECU, UTSA, Houston, etc. Adding a Texas school might help to expand the recruiting territory.
Houston is a mixed bag. Some years you wouldn't want anything to do with them. Then someone steals their coach and they suck again for a year or two.

Just RECRUIT.

UCF is a tough game but when they were scheduled they weren't quite as tough as they are now.

Either way the sentiment that it is sad that we have anything to fear from a program like UCF is definitely valid.

Sad day when our program is scared of a date with UCF
Well...UCF is 31-4 over the last 3 seasons with back-to-back New Years Six appearances (winning one) and honestly is a better program right now than 90% of the teams out there, including Tech.

A UGA girl got kneed in the face at the Auburn game and knocked the öööö out, no movement then had to be carried off in a stretcher. Gary Danielson laughed about it. I did too

Was this a Bobinski schedule? Why schedule UCF if you already have ND and the cesspool?

As a fan, I'd much rather see us schedule a 'UCF type' as opposed to any FCS opponent. Let's step out of our comfort zone a bit and schedule a home and home with a Big Ten or Big 12 opponent.

In terms of scheduling, I’d prefer, along with our 8 ACC games and UGA,

~a P5 team- Predominantly an SEC team -AU, UT, UF, Vandy, Ole Miss, etc.
~mid-tier FBS -AAC, Conf USA; Navy/Tulane/Rice/etc.
~mid-tier FCS -Southern; Wofford, Furman, UTC, VMI (but not Citadel :scared:)

Clemson, UGA, and a P5, along with good teams in the ACC, would make for a tough schedule year in and year out, but I’d prefer that than a set of games against crap teams.
