He gets a D in coaching this group. If 2-8 is better than a D you are one easy grader. 3-9 gets him a D+. 2-10 and he gets an F. But, this is his grade coaching CPJ’s recruits. The first grades that will tell us how he is going to do with his players will be years 3-5.

I hope we get better. My concern is with our overall football culture. The stadium crowds get smaller. The student support is almost non-existent. We seem confused as to whether we should continue Georgia Tech traditions or embrace an urban school image. There seems to be more apathy than unrest. I know he wants to change us through better recruiting. But, he has quite a job to do selling kids on our current culture.
Winning really does solve most "fan" problems.

My point is I am mocking the "it takes multiple years to recruit" excuse makers simultaneously giving CGC credit for our 2007 and Bama's 2008 class when CGC was only at those places 1 year.
I've only seen one person make that claim. I think it's pretty obvious that it doesn't take multiple years to recruit when Collins is already recruiting better than Johnson ever did. Now, it obviously helps if you have multiple years to establish connections with particular kids and schools.

F minus . I would have been willing to give an F or even an F+ until the VT game. The jury is still out on whether he will be as successful here as he claims he will be & many posters say he will be . We will know more after next season & he better go at least .500 or the situation for him will get a little shaky . I expect 7-9 wins in year 3 & as good or better in year 4. He needs to tone down his braggadocio , be more aware of Tech traditions, realize we don't care how he did at Temple or about Temple. Some people regard him as a marketing genius here & on other boards but I am beginning to see resistance to his methods. His approach is ,( and whether you want to hear this or not ) is too much ghetto trash.

In CGC’s mind apparently, Temple is the standard bearer for what Tech will become.

What achievements there is he expecting us fans to look forward to? Can anyone take a stab at that?

I really don’t get why he brings them into the picture at all.
He probably reads ST and knows that the very mention of Temple triggers lots of Tech fans, and that is the joke that most are missing here.

This is true. We haven't had a head coach or coordinators that other P5 teams wanted since O'Leary-Friedgen-Roof.
One more good year at Temple would have gotten Collins in the mix for some P5 jobs. Arkansas may have been looking at him right now.

You can move the needle a bit in a single year, but expecting us to jump into the top 3 in the conference in a single year isn’t reasonable (unless you are Hugh Freeze).

I’m sure Collins had a couple of guys he was recruiting at Temple that he never expected to sign, but now being able to bring them into a P5 conference helps his chances.

I really hope someone quantifies how many walkons we've been playing outside of special teams each game at some point.
Not sure of the total but yesterday we started 2 walk-ons and a true freshman (from Europe no less) on the DL. At least one walk-on started on the OL.

So you are going a bit much, I've been fairly critical of the onfield performances this year, especially with in game head coaching decisions, and of course the offense.

But there is no denying that Collins has improved the buzz around the program, and improved recruiting.

The results on the field may be a dumpster fire, but the overall state of the program is most decidedly not.
Sorry, I do not see it that way. Attendance has been pitiful this year. I left at halftime yesterday and traffic and the crowd exiting were much greater than at the end of most games. If there is so much buzz and excitement, where is everybody? Sorry but I think we've hired a snake oil salesman, not a football coach.

cbee throwing his hat in the ring for whiney bitch of the week. Some stiff competition out there. Keep laying on the bitchery thick. Good luck to all the bitches in the running.
I do get whiny and bitchy when I see the team that I have supported for over 50 years perform like they did yesterday and all the coach wants to talk about is how good the roster is at his former school. I do not apologize for that so go suck your mom's tit.

That’s not what he said. And besides Collins is not talking to us old guys. He’s talking to recruits. The fact that you admittedly left at halftime tells us a lot and shows our fan base is way worse than our coaching staff. I have never left a game early because I enjoy watching and it takes a lot of effort to get to my seat. I enjoyed getting to see Yates, Griffin, and Malloy. I also watched the reaction of guys like Graham on the sidelines. Everything I saw tells me Collins is building a real culture of togetherness. Everyone in the country knows why we are 2-8 and it’s not the coaching staff. Just like everyone knew in 2015 that Johnson wasn’t the reason we only won 3.
