I stayed for every miserable second of it, including "The Horse"
Me too. The Horse and Budweiser were probably the highlights for the day, sadly.

We brought some neutral fans. They left because it was boring as öööö. We stayed out of PITY. If you're not a die hard Tech fan why would you stay? Time is valuable and there are a lot of other things to do in Atlanta.
Thank you for bringing neutral fans. It sucks that they had to experience yesterday as their impression of Tech football. I'm willing to bet that most of the people that showed up to see our 2-7 team yesterday (and left early) weren't just Tech-curious like your friends, though. Anyone committed enough to show up in the first place could probably stand to wait an extra hour to get their avocado toast or whatever alternate November-afternoon "fun" they pursued in Atlanta rather than abandoning the team in the first half.

If South Carolina, a team with one ACC title to it's name, can consistently draw a huge amount of fans to see their ööööty team, then our lack of fans likely stems from... our fans.

We drew a fair number of fans yesterday. They just suck and show up late as usual which is a problem. There were a ton of people coming in 3/4 through the first quarter. That kills any atmosphere right out of the gate.

I’m not sure how to fix that other than telling our fans to not suck or somehow incentivize getting in your seats early. I’m also thinking that our band needs to get into the stadium earlier and play during warmups because there are a lot of people who wait to watch band come down hill or wait to start packing their tailgate until the band marches in. Maybe people would get in their seats earlier if the band went in earlier. I have no idea. I do know from traveling to other stadiums that most other bands arrive earlier and play some during warmups before doing their pregame show.

as for people leaving early, I’m not sure of many fanbases that would have sat through that öööö yesterday.

Jayson Jones would be the steal of several decades for us. Immediate starter

I even saw on one of the GT Facebook football pages that two VT coaches going from the pressbox to the field climbed onto the Wreck to get down there. If that story is true, and since we no longer seem to emphasize the Wreck entrance, just retire the damn thing. Collins can run through strobe lights and LED's .

And if it happened, that means that useless driver and club members did nothing but watch it happen.
I wouldn't expect anything more from this generation. They know nothing about tradition and/or what is and isn't acceptable behavior.

Thanks. They had a really great time. The tailgating culture at Tech is underrated and it was a beautiful day. There were a lot of people at the game for us being 2-7 too! I was happy to see that. Sadly, it was just the fact we didn't cross the 50 for 3/4 of the game. Just kind of a let down after we looked to progress over the last few games.

Great story about avocado toast! Did you know you can order cookies via drone now?

To me it looked kind of like the team was emotionally exhausted after trying really hard at Virginia and falling short. I'm hopeful they get the ship righted against NC State.

I really like avocado toast. also, I recognize the fact that there are six or seven home games a year, and this was a 3:30 game with beautiful weather. Those have been in pretty short supply in recent years.

Also, pregame band playing on the stairs outside the stadium someone left a flatbed golf cart parked at the bottom of the stairs

So the team does not follow the Wreck after it comes on the field?

Really? Or are there just more cheerleaders involved?

Or they don’t do it the way a bunch of farts like it? Grown men actually concerned about something that doesn’t have a thing to do with the game.

This staff wants to win big, and do the things necessary to get there.

But too many are more concerned with just averaging 7 wins a year, and not caring that our win % vs ugag is lower than under Carson, Pepper, the pompous Curry, Boss Ross and G’O’L the last 11 years.

we are bitching because this is a discarded tradition:

By the time they run out every flag and every cheerleader, the Reck is parked on the sideline before the team even comes out of the tunnel. It’s ööööing dumb to have that many cheerleaders between the Reck and the team.

As a continuation from the other thread about this after the Pitt game, the PA, A/V, and pregame all still suck. The only change they made was bringing chords back on 3rd downs. Didn't seem to help much with 3rd down cheering/hype. I had the same bad gut feeling when Buzz tripped the flag carrier. I thought, "oh öööö, this is going to be a bad day." Boy was I right. Team was flat, coaching wasn't good, just a bad game all-around. Jury is still out though for me on the staff because they haven't had time to make the program theirs yet.

I will say this though. I don't care what their record is, who they barely beat, who they lost to, up close, VT looked like the 2nd best team we've played this year. They were much larger and physically built than I've seen since the Clemson game, and they were clicking like a machine. Their offensive line dwarfed our DL. They've always had big, physical athletes, and we've been able to compete in the past with teams like that with inferior athletes due to scheme. Now that scheme is gone and the athletes are much the same (not to mention young and extremely thin at positions because of injury), we will get out matched like this by teams that are more physical and coached well until we are able to build our roster up.

Now don't go jumping on me because I'm not knocking our athletes. We have plenty of good athletes on the team but we just don't have enough of them yet (one reason due to injury) and we most definitely don't have the size we need up front on either side of the ball. If we keep building recruiting classes like the one we have going this year (and hopefully improving on that by the year), we will start to be at least an equal, if not have an advantage, in talent compared to most of our schedule. If our coaching staff can't get it done then, yes it will be time to move on, but at least we should have a talented balanced roster for the next guy to start with if it comes to that.
