Rate Geoff Collins First Season

So I guess it will be 16 in a row for VT this year?
Holy öööö. I knew VT had dominated lately, but had no idea it was 15 straight. That's gotta suck as a UVA fan.

UVA wins the Coastal with a win over VT this year. That should be an interesting game.

You said VT is not that much better than UVA and i was answering thatb

Sure, OK. I have no point of reference of VT pre- and -post Hooker so I can roll with that.

But I still maintain we we looked more lifeless, confused, or both than at any point this year. Perhaps, Foster threw something at us we hadn't seen, and we simply didn't execute or couldn't pull the levers due to inexperience to counteract it. I maintain though I didn't see that game as a bully ball beatdown we've seen this year like Duke or Pitt. Both Offense and Defense, our heads seemed to be spinning moreso.

For example, we had guys running free on defense, which I've YET to see this year. That's been an amazing this year. Our guys, until Saturday, have been put into position to make plays on Defense.

Juice Crew v. Boomers is a lot of noise. I didn't anticipate there being so many Geock-sniffers this early into the man's tenure, though.
What’s the current downside about being positive about Geoff?
Say in 3 years we still suck and Dave Paterdouche is still doing Paterdouche things, is that going to make all the Boomers feel better? At least they were right in their negativity!
At this point, the jury is still out on pretty much everything about the football team (although Dave’s jury is probably getting close to a verdict). So let’s just hold out some hope and in 3 years if we’re still getting our öööö pushed in by VPI, we can have all the Boomer threads about the ööööing marching band traditions gone away we want.

Bud Foster has made much better offenses than ours look really bad. I remember several years when VT appeared to be jumping the snap against the 3-O and completely shut us down by CPJ standards. End of the day, it's one bad game following one of our best games. The sooner we get over it and move on the Thursday night the better off we'll all be.

You are very uneducated where Johnson left out program at.
Johnson left a roster that could win more than 2 games by running the 3O. Trying to run a "modern, NFL-style spread offense" with that same roster was a choice made by this staff. For all of the talk about "molding the offense to suit the current players' skill sets", it isn't happening. That's fine, but let's not pretend that Johnson should have built the roster to run a completely different scheme.

What offense do you propose we run, knowing that our lineman’s skill set is to cut and scoop out of a 4-pt stance to open up for a quick-hitter FB dive? There aren’t many offenses where that’s a fit outside of the 3-O. We truly were unique in what we ran the last 11 yrs. I don’t know that there is an intermediate offense that fits our personnel, meanwhile getting us closer to the desired end product...so we decided to rip off the bandaid.

End of the day, we need more round pegs for our round holes. Jimmies and Joes, bro...plus experience in a new scheme.

Come out PASSING-pass-pass (yeah i know--the OL)--but open it up a little (LOT). Maybe the RUN will loosen up.

We should've Death Marched 'em yesterday when we getting blown out in the 4th qtr. That's exactly what the mighty St. PJ did vs Duke last year. Offensive genius!

We just needed more goddamned B-Back dives!!!

That's a pretty silly POV to take. You honestly think the way to have a better offense next year is to continue to run the TO this year WITHOUT someone who is an expert on the system calling the plays and making the adjustments that Johnson made?

That's like saying that if you were relieved of your job doing (I presume based on your name) aeronautical engineering, we can just bring in an IE and have him do your aeronautical stuff. I mean, it's all just engineering just like that's all just football...right?

No one is saying he’s above criticism. But the amount and type of criticism he’s getting (especially from old white guys who are really just mad about change) is the problem

I'm old and white, and I enjoy reading the drivel from folks on the board they melt down about öööö they can't change. If i didn't know any better, sometimes I wonder if I've been punked and redirected to SECrant, or dWagvent. Keep up the good work guys, because laughter can be a very good med.

This was my take as well. I wonder if anyone has film of the team running out. They were low-energy enough for me to turn to my buddy and say that we look flat, that's not good. Then, Buzz took out B Glanton and the US flag followed quickly by a delay-of-game penalty on a play call made on Friday. The talent gap between Tech and VT is not that different, even with the additional injuries, than that of Pitt, UVA, and Miami.

As far as on the field performance goes, we're underachieving to the point of embarrassment. That's going to bring criticism from lots of people. Not just racists like yourself.
