Matt Rhule reference at 18:15. Apparently they are buds and share a lot of the same ideas on how to build a program. He had Matt’s back in year one at Baylor and Matt has his back now.

Just got tired of people like you tearing down the previous regime to justify the performance of the current. Sad thing is, we’ll probably ride that excuse for the next 4 years, just like politics... always the last guy’s fault.
And I get tired of fonts claiming we have more talent than we do, and it must be the brand new guy's fault a patchwork of walkons can't perform like 5th year seniors, which we basically don't have.

We basically stopped recruiting offensive linemen a few years ago. I don't know why. Doesn't matter today, but it was not the doing of any current coach.

And any font that wants to throw a current coach under the bus owes the board a lot more than "we have more talent than people realize."

AJC article to this effect with Rhule interview. Rhule was Collins' LB coach when he DC'd at Western Carolina. Rhulew ent 1-10 in 1st year at Baylor. Article pretty much makes OP look like a dumbarse.

Would link it if I knew how.

Yeah, the take away from Rhule is that a program/coach can have an extremely awful year but then play at a high level 2 years later. By any metric (maybe not offensive production) their season was worse than GTs.

A lot of speculation out there that Rhule will leave Baylor for an NFL job after the season. Obviously the turnaround at Baylor in short order is impressive....but surprised by the NFL interest.

Not Rhule related, but it was noted last night that Mendenhall’s uva won 2 games just two years ago. They had a pretty good season by their standards this year just a short time later. Let’s hope Collins can get us rolling too.

Doesn't Bryce Perkins graduate next year? UVA is going to look like dogshit without him.

Rhule turned down a Browns interview. Good move. Power move.

Mendenhall took over a debacle that was left by Mike London, who in his last 4 years and UVA went 4-8, 2-10, 5-7, 4-8; so Mendenhall going 2-10 his first season wasn't much of a shock to the system for Hoos fans. Of course some on here think that CGC is taking over the same sort of debacle, in which case a bowl should be our goal for next season because that is what Mendenhall did in year 2.

I hope we can make a bowl, but I’m not demanding or expecting it as a benchmark for the coming year. I want to see more consistency on both sides of the ball, development on the lines that shows some measurable results, and quarterback development in a positive direction. I think we have a good staff that can build something good here.

Our situation is essentially a debacle since nobody (outside of option programs) start linemen that are only 6 feet tall.

UVA's out of conference schedule that year was William & Mary, Indiana, UCONN and Boise St. They got BC and Louisville from the Atlantic. A bowl is the goal, but might not be any more achievable than a UVA that went 6-6 against that schedule back then going against the schedule we got for next year.
