This was the bottom--

Very good question. I don’t see why we need fancy offices for those who aren’t exactly tearing it up in their administration jobs.

honest question - why is the edge center renovation a focus right now? Of all the things to spend that much on... why administrative offices? TStan alludes to it improving our recruiting... how’s that?

It's a matter of funding sources. Edge building funding sources are not the same as GTAA money.

GTAA barely breaks even on tickets sales. The only team in the state that doesn't have to supplement athletic program funding because of ticket sales are the mutts. Other schools (GSU, GA Southern) are in much worse shape when it comes to finding ways to fund athletics other than through ticket sales.

Then why are we doing this AI2020 crap to fund a new Edge Building? They should spend the money on pressure washing BDS and fixing the ööööing Jumbotron and PA. You know, things that make a difference to the fans and Gameday experience rather than Todd’s Monday through Friday.

You know where our athletes go to study and get academic support? The Edge.

You know where they go to get rehab and taped up? The Edge.

You know where they go to eat? The Edge.

You know where we welcome recruits on their visits? The Edge.

You know where we have team meetings and film study? The Edge.

This is where the athletes spend a huge majority of their time. The building has basically been the same since the early 80’s. It is woefully outdated.

+10

I understand that. I do not understand why.

A little before my time, but the “hill” has been hostile towards athletics for a long time, going back to the Petit days. Throw in recent clowns like Clough and Petersen being indifferent towards athletics and you get what we have. Maybe the new prez cares or at least understands that having the athletics programs that aren’t the hot garbage would help the school.

Perhaps, TStan can help in that respect.

Yes it is. Geez.
Last year 4 punts. This year 13.
Running the ball every play and milking the 40 second clock just so you don't lose as badly was not a sound strategy. We got hammered last season.

Cause it is a damn eyesore in the NE endzone

They who should spend what money? The GTAA doesn't have the money, the donors do. And what donor wants to really dig into his pocket, to the point where it's really noticeable to him, just to fund on-going operating expenses? Give $1mil that way and it just disappears in a few months. Build a building and it's around for 20-30 years.

The people to blame for our anemic financial situation are not the big money guys, but the people on this board who care enough to waste their free time posting on the internet but not enough to buy season tickets. If we can't motivate our own dang fans to buy tickets, what hope is there to generate interest among new fans? And the only way to really close the funding gap is to grow the fanbase.

This is true but they have to put a good product on the field. One could make the argument that on field results drive donations for facilities not the other way around.

Also, running the clock and only getting 2 yards per carry is a loser strategy

Yeah, it’s the bottom, but Collins has the program pointed in the right direction. Better recruiting to a more standard offensive philosophy will pay enormous future dividends. Go Jackets!
