this is our punishment because stansbury did not support johnson

When high schools 15 minutes away say they haven’t seen a Tech coach in years that’s not a money issue. When your boring ass coaching stuff doesn’t have any social media presence that’s not a money issue. When you present yourself as a gruff, out of touch, old curmudgeon in interviews that’s not a money issue.

The fact of the matter is GT could land a top 25 class without a coach ever traveling out of the city much less the state. We should be able to operate on a smaller budget than a school out in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed. Most HS kids don't want to play in the TO and dive at ankles either. More money wasn't going to change that perception either.

You do know that one of the first things Collins did was hire a social media guy with the money that TStan gave him. Let me make it plane for you, it took money to hire a social media guy.

If you think we are going to pull in top 25 classes without any coach ever traveling out of the city you have no clue.

Leave things better than how you found them. Johnson found a team with some NFL talent on it and left it with lower to bottom P5 talent. This season was simply an extension of the last four, culminating in the clock finally striking midnight and the magical carriage reverting to a pumpkin. It will take another season or two to churn through most of the small-ball Paul slaw and start seeing more wheat than chaff on the field. This very easily could have been a winless season and was saved by the players buying in to what the coaches are selling

I say its real.

Are you being sarcastic? Collins visited 4 high schools in one day.

Collins is a coach, you ignorant ass. This asshole was claiming he 'personally saw Paul Johnson at 3 different schools in one day" and I called BS on that.
M

Maybe selling an installing synthetic turf
You didn't sell and install synthetic turf at 3 separate schools on the exact same day. And what are the odds that you would happen to be at the exact same 3 as Paul Johnson at the same time?

And my kids went to Etowah where they have that synthetic turf. I think they paid about $750K for it and I can assure you that you did NOT sell and install 3 in the same area at the same time because the counties aren't paying for that all in the same year. Now that you've posted that, I KNOW you're lying.

No you ignorant ass, he said he saw him there over the last two years, not 3 schools on the exact same day.

Well he should have stuck with the one day lie because, as unbelievable as that was, it would be a hell of a lot more believable than thinking that he happened to be at the exact same schools that Paul happened to visit and at the same time.
Coach Johnson didn't make that many visits direct to the high schools; those were reserved for assistant coaches unless there was a kid like the Etowah safety who ended up choosing Stanford over GT. And it ain't like this guy is going to be selling and installing 40 of these turfs a year to all of the area high schools. So to think that he would happen to be at the same 3 that Paul happened to visit is unlikely as hell. (Spoiler alert: head coaches are limited in the number of off-campus contacts they can make with recruits)

I stick by my statement. He's lying and you're an ignorant ass.

I didnt say the same day...over time and yes when people find out you are a Tech fan and ask if you want to meet the coach when he visits the school they let you know. Its not hard to do at all...and the coach met with High school coaches on a regular basis enven if they didnt have anyone there to recruit.
Why the animosity?
The claim was the PJ didnt visit schools in the metro...I beg to differ...bc I know he did.
Is it soooo hard to believe that a Ga Tech coach visited schools in the metro?
If you hate PJ I guess it is.

I don't hate PJ...in fact, I know him somewhat...having smoked a cigar with him and a few other guys on the deck of a party. And I know how often he went to high schools personally...and that was rarely. I know that GT assistant coaches worked the high schools and PJ was brought in when they were trying to close on a recruit or if they had a recruit who they were really interested in and they thought it would help out to have the head coach there.

I do not have enough information to say definitively what CPJ did or did not do, other than point to the results, but I can say I have the information to say that Collins understands that not only do you have to sell to the kids and parents, but you have to sell to the HS coaches, and selling to coaches can help you years later with other kids.

I like that Collins is brave enough to go into the UA-AU battlefields without flinching and sell Georgia Tech. Looks like he has gotten Howard, Lockhart, and Amerson out of there in just one year of effort. They knew Key. Now they know both of them.

That 48 point loss that the dwags suffered at our hands happened maybe 20 years prior to my birth, and is one of two losses that former UGA Sports Information Director, who current sportswriters call the "late great Dan McGill" has convinced or hoodwinked those same sportswriters into believing did not count. So in the last 20 years we have been on the wrong end of a 44 point and a 45 point differential. Whose narrative do you think that Atlanta and statewide media have bought into? If you don't think that what they write about us and what they say over the airwaves drive perception about our program, then you are kidding yourself.

Just because you may have bought into it doesn’t mean I have. And you stated it as a fact.

I thought GT should have been given its proper due in the scheme of the post.

If you don’t fine, but GT owns the largest margin of victory.

If azzwipes like magill, the auc, and nadlickers want to proclaim it doesn’t count then just ask them why they played the game. They don’t deny they played the game. Using that philosophy I proclaim they have not beaten us anytime since 1964.

Thats nice...saw PJ at three separate high schools and one cross fit over the last two years but WTF ever you dick.
He is gone...yep...it was time for him to go...but now we are stuck with Clown Collins and his pet P-Nut
I'm generally on your side, the let's-stop-bashing-CPJ side of this board... but you lost me when you said you saw CPJ at a Crossfit. Was he getting the introductory tour? Because dude does not look like he Crossfits. Plus he never mentioned it on the radio and from what I understand, the first rule of Crossfit is never shut up about Crossfit.

This is the biggest thing. The high school coaches know before Rivals or 247 which players will be those headed to the big schools. And those coaches can give us a heads up and allow us to develop a relationship with those players before Saban and Smart start whispering in their ears about all of the improper riches that come with playing football at “schools” like Bama and uga. These high school coaches are dad to a lot of these players, and having a dad that likes and pushes Tech can be a huge thing for us.
