Collins

Too bad CGC didn’t inherit an NFL d-line and a BEAST at QB perfectly adapted and capable of running his offensive system like the former coach did in his 1st season.

Think that’s where some of these lunatic expectations of a first year head coach are coming from.

Our offensive line depth chart is the most depleted it’s been in decades. And our best QB ran the wing t in HS and was recruited as a safety

Nesbitt ran a shotgun spread in high school. PJ made him into an option QB.
PJ took an O line not recruited or built for option football and won nine games with them. We can talk about the D line, but remember, Vance Walker was a 2 star and Morgan was a 4 star from the 07 class. PJ gave CGC a 4 star rivals DE from a recent class too (Dingle), plus 4 stars in the secondary (King, Oliver, Swilling), a 3 star safety who had three 90 yard plus TDs as a freshman, two 4 star QBs and another 3 star even CGC says is "elite" (his favorite word) in Tobias.
Maybe if Cooper and Lee don't get hurt, the line is a little better.
Collins may wind up recruiting well, and he'll have to do so. No one fears us now. They hated facing us and the option. Now? No one is putting in extra work to get ready for us. We don't do anything special to make other teams worry about us.

This is true.

Comparing the roster CGC inherited compared to the one CPJ inherited is so absurdly laughable, every post of yours should be disregarded from here on by everyone

I don't know why people keep making these comparisons.

CPJ was handed a far superior roster to run an offense designed to make up for talent deficiencies.

CGC was handed back a roster filled now with primarily FCS talent and people want the same results.

Doesn't work like that.

Give those two teams the same HC running any style and 2008 would whup the ever loving öööö out of 2019.

I know you’re a CPJ jock sniffer since the Southern days but don’t insult the board’s intelligence.

Bingo, bingo, bingo.

Who is confident that if you give Patendude the 2008 roster that he beats UGA in Athens though? Or would we have been complaining about no OL and a Safety for a QB.

As long as CGC was the head coach. I’d be confident in having that win. There’s no way they score 42 that day with CGC and coach thack. The o-line back then actually had guys recruited to pass block too.

I saw nothing on the field this season that gives me hope about next year or the Collins Era moving fwd. Maybe the talent upgrades (transfers in and better recruiting class than in the past) will help, but Collins hasn’t shown me anything positive as a game day head coach yet. Nothing!!
Dude, it's ok to be a stupid twit with a bloody tampon up your ass, but you're abusing the privilege.

I would take Chan Gailey but prefer George Oleary!!! Look what George Oleary did... takes over a horrible Bill lewis situation in 1994 (GT was 1-10) and wins 6 games in 1995... Geoff Collins takes over a 7 Win bowl team and losses to a bad FCS team, gets shut out by VT, and has the worst loss to Georgi ever only wins 3 games... Nevermind...maybe you all are to young to remember what George Oleary did.... Again Geoff Collins is no where near GOL he is more like Bill Lewis... the record speaks for itself, it can only be Coach Paul Johnson's fault so long....

FWIW... I heard how great Tobais Oliver was, but they never gave him the ball.. I heard how fast Nate Cotrell was..something like 22mph fastest on that gadget they use in practice... but they coud not find any plays for him on offense or use him as a mismatch....I saw nothing on the field this season that gives me hope about next year or the Collins Era moving fwd. Good gawd almighty. What in hell were you expecting? Football takes all 11 players playing as a team to accomplish anything, now consider Collins and crew comes in last winter to an already below average roster and then they evaluate players and positions over the winter and then they have all of 15 days in spring practice to teach an entirely new scheme. And guess what? You've lost a number of players, a few crucial starters to transfer, injury, quitting and even death. And your star-in-waiting QB is not focused on football, but on simply staying in school.

So you plug in younger, smaller, slower less skilled guys from a small recruiting class and the scout team, and then you have all of another 4 weeks to hone the new plays, skills and schemes and don't forget, you're starting over at several positions.

And then during the season you lose even more players, mostly to injury, but there's also an indeterminate number for who the teaching worked in practice, but didn't yet show it on the field. There's also the learning curve that takes longer because, guess what? You've had to plug in even more slower, smaller, younger, less skilled players and bring them up to speed while also prepping for specific games.

And consider, football is a team sport; when those younger, smaller, slower players don't perform as well, it's not just that position that's affected, it's the rest of the team. And expecting the coaches to elevate the play of the number of younger, smaller, slower players, who likely on most other D1 teams wouldn't have dressed out, that's seen action this year is exhibiting an incredible unrealistic view of the real world, not to mention ignorance of football.

Quite frankly we just do. not. know. how good this coaching team is. You can't say they suck, you can't say they're great, because based on this year, you do. not. know. And being ultra critical of the coaches, saying they're like Bill ööööin Lewis, is counter-productive to the long term success. Support the team, support the coaches during this crucial time and when you actually have some results that are relevant to judge the coaches by, then let the chips fall where they may.

BTW, to those younger, smaller, slower players, bless your heart for giving your all in a difficult situation and thank you for being Tech men.

Joshua Nesbitt was a football player, and a leader.

Swampsting followed PJ here from Southern. Look at the signup date - it's the day PJ signed on with us. He's just a Scheme First'r.

I’m noticing that December 2007 sign up date more and more with the people who I don’t get along with here
