Transfer Portal Central

We have an outgoing transfer: Kendall Young, a late signee from the last class. Had been removed from the roster during the season for academic reasons. Was a guy we took a flyer on. Good luck to him.

 
Yeah wish him the best but he already was off the roster and hasn't been counted when trying to figure scholarship numbers. So we didn't really "gain" another spot.

Pretty sure he was on scholarship this fall.

I think his point was it was clear early in the season he would be gone so it didn’t delay our response to fill his slot with a new recruit now, vs a kid leaving in spring etc or just after early signing day.

He was such a late add last year, that ship woulda gone unfilled anyway so we brought him in.

No loss for us. A small chance to take.
 
Weird thing with Young is he was a Vandy commit with a Princeton offer before he had some trouble. He was worth taking a flyer on with those measurables, but no harm, no foul.

But his 1/85 schollies was full and now it is open. He was expected to be using a scholarship next fall and now a new player will be using that scholarship.

Umm yes. Thats the point. And we have plenty time to fill it as he was gone weeks ago. So relative to filling the 85 next year; with regards to this current class we haven’t gained a spot since around middle of October. In other words this is nothing new. But sure overall since he isn’t returning it freed a spot. Again I think the other dude was just saying we had planned this so against our plans we didnt gain anything
 
I expect the transfer portal to pick up after the early signing day. The coaches will then have time to talk to the current players about their future prospects.

Yes it was full now but his name was already off the list for counting next year. So with him just now entering the transfer portal, nothing has changed. If he he had decided to stay and was going to be still playing, his name would go back on the list, reducing the number we thought we had available by 1.
