Incoming Transfer

This guy is a great bridge to 2021 for new OL recruits coming in this yr.-- '20 Probably the best we have walking in the door.

Yet he keeps recruiting them for his nationally prominent football team. And wins at a better clip than almost everyone else.
He actually has disproportionately fewer 5 star guys with three this year than a lot of the top teams. His class is very much overwhelmingly four star guys.

Thats probably just random or a coincidence, but it is interesting.

I understand and I agree that if you are recruiting talented freshmen, you should play them as soon as possible.

One thing though is it is easier to do that when those freshmen are 5-stars or top 100 players.

For the OL and DL specifically, one of the differences between a 5-star and 3-star is the 5-star is typically physically ready to play while the 3-star might need more development and strength.
Yes, a five star is probably more ready to play than a three star or many 4 stars. But you seem to be glossing over that what matters most is the other players. Its dumb to redshirt a 4 star guy, because he could use a little more development or weight, if he is better than the upperclassmen.

Nope, no glossing. I think we agree.

I think at OL/DL it can be tougher to play early just from a strength POV.

. “I think that he is, without a doubt, one of the best, if not the best offensive line coach in the country right now,” Johnson said.

Bye Sewak
Almost as if someone figured that out 8 years or so ago.
