Philip Wheeler 2.0.

Can’t imagine this kid not getting serious PT in 2020.

Wheeler had a strange career. I believe he played freshman year, redshirted sophomore year, iirc.

Yep.

He was so good but then he redshirted which was weird. I think we had so much depth back then at LB.

Remember when we used to be awesome at LB and DE?

Yeah. It’s been a while.

I look forward to getting back to that point, having so much depth at LB that we choose to redshirt a future 3rd round draft pick.

We're well on our way of building the depth chart back up.

Wheeler was like a cat. It was amazing to watch him flow to a play, head up, balanced, watching the ball carrier, moving over and around the blockers to get to the ball carrier.

I remember daydreaming about it when I was supposed to be doing school work. I had no doubts that Gathers would outshine Peppers in the NFL, or that our LBs could stack up with anyone's. The latter probably was true for a few years there when we ran the ROCK. 2003 vs Maryland is one of my favorite games I've ever seen in-person, or otherwise for that matter. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor.

Interesting that CGC directly compared Khaya Wright to wheeler in his signing special.

But all GT LBs would like to be comparable to him I guess

Khaya’s recruiting ranking is middle of the pack as far as our class is concerned. But I’ve got to say his film has got me really stoked. The amount of ground these cats will be able to cover over the next 4 years will be light years ahead of what we’ve been seeing the last decade.

I noticed that too. The whole LB group looks faster already in HS than what we’ve had on the field in BDS (barring Attachou)

We are about to have an absolutely nasty defense. If we can get some bad customers up front with a bad disposition with quarterbacks and running backs, it is going to be a fun time on the flats.

This was my response to the film as well.

He was injured for part of the year and that affected his rankings.

Would not surprise me if this spring we hear about Paula 'trying' some interior DL.
