2020 Recruiting

Yet. Recruiting ain’t over yet.
We will either get the Alabama DT or a player off of the portal. Plus, Jahaziel Lee is moving back to DL for this season. Collins said Lee has NFL potential on that side of the ball. I'm hoping his recovery is coming along.

We get the DT out of Alabama and have a healthy Lee on the DL, we are an 8 win team. I do expect significant improvement on the offensive side of the ball.

we got two that project to dt. But neither is dt ready today, as most true freshman arent. I expect collins to develop dt like oleary did. Which is take a 260 pound sde with a frame and grow him into dt. This takes time though. But its one way u have to do it here.

stone will be one for sure moving to the 3tech.

emmanuel Johnson is 6-5 260. He is the other

Both likely start out day one at the 5tech then cross into the 3 over the year. Johnson could be big enough to slide to the 1. If he is fast enough he may stay at end.

alot of flexibility

Maybe in 2021.

In 2019 it was our thinnest position before big B passed, and now Glanton has graduated.

Between Lee, TK and Lockhart we should have an OK 3-man rotation, but we need more and we need them now.
Are you trying to insinuate that two freshmen are not ready to come in and immediately dominate on the defensive line across from 22 year olds? The hell you say.

If all you're saying is that bad recruiting by the former staff and a tragic loss (big B) has left us in need of a transfer or two to have a decent DL in 2020, then I agree.

I think all he meant is what he said. That we do not yet have a recruit in the ‘20 class that will contribute at DT in 2020. And for some reason that rustled your jimmies.

DTs almost never contribute in their true freshman year. Russian is a moron. Don't be a moron along with him.

I’ve said before that based on his film I think Jones is a better fit as a 3-4 DL absorber than a 4-3 DT disrupter, but he has the size to contribute as a true frosh for us anyway. He’d likely get snaps in 2020 as a depth player. Which is something we need, but don’t have yet.

I’d even go further and say I like the way Akelo projects as a DT for us more than Jones. But not for 2020.

Bama (and us to an extent) think Jayson is a better OL prospect than DL.

As a bright spot, one of Collins' late gets in 2019, Mike Lockhart, is looking huge and will likely get a lot of snaps at DT beside Jahaziel in 2020.
