2020 Recruiting

Hey I didn’t see it mentioned earlier ITT, but my neighbor is a HUGE Bama fan, and he said that they were done at the RB position and won’t be taking Gibbs. Good news I guess. Sounds like UF and FSU are our biggest competition? And surely we won’t lose him to FSU right?

Florida, Ohio State and LSU. He wants to take a look at Texas, too.

Insiders predicting we keep him now, though. First time they've said that.

It’s hard for me to understand how they would be playing somebody both ways who has NFL potential at DT, that doesn’t make sense
NFL DT’s are not like skill positions in college they typically take all or most of a full collegiate career to show their true form.

For once in a long time I trust in this recruiting. Whether it be basketball or football, we are making great upgrades in the football program lets just see if the coaching and recruiting equals wins.
What does this mean?

Gibbs is right to look at all of his options. He had a big time year and now he is rightfully getting the attention from big time programs. Hopefully this staff’s belief in him before he got big and their continued relationship since will seal the deal.

Stanford has 13 players in the transfer portal last I looked. Much dissension with Shaw
As of today, I count 15 from Stanford who entered the portal (one of whom is staying). Of these, eleven will have graduated and will be immediately eligible. As a matter of course, David Shaw has encouraged players who graduate with eligibility remaining and who wish to continue playing to enter the portal - to maximize their options - because continuing at Stanford by gaining admittance to a Stanford graduate school is very difficult. Costello, who began last season as the starting QB, is in the portal showing non-immediate eligibility, but he has apparently been beaten out by a highly touted underclassmen. I see no apparent evidence of 'dissension with Shaw' based on these numbers, but I'm not that close to the program.

Stanford's injury situation last year was extreme. For example, they ended the season with three of their five starting offensive lineman true freshman - really tough 2019, but perhaps the reverse going forward.

My mistake. Still wonder why we did not give him an offer per 247.

We offered some 5 stars and thats a position of need. I am sure we didnt overlook him or just not offer because we didnt think we had a chance. Probably a sound reason. Or we may have even offered and he didnt report it. Dunno.

FSU and UF are fighting hard to get him. UF particularly

Could've been grades?
