Cotton, Camping, Peach, Fiesta - "So long, losers!" Edition

Dabos Arm band sweatshirt does seem a little Naziish

Pretty scary that a WB can take a targeting penalty, look obviously dazed on the field, and the coach puts him back in 1 play later. Was joking about “pretending it wasn’t a concussion” earlier but Dabo prioritizing a win over Lawrence’s well being here. Hell they didn’t even assess him.

Years ago, it wouldn't be an issue, but they will catch heat for this now, I suspect.

Yeah, there's no way he went through proper concussion protocol

He didn’t look dazed from the head shot. He looked like he was hurt from being twisted.

I was surprised as well

This. If targeting call is to protect players safety, how the hell did the refs not require him to be evaluated after a ‘targeting’ hit?

They’ve been consistent with this call for years. Onus is on the defender to not lead with the crown. Rule should be changed because defenders are getting ejected for nothing a lot, but he clearly led with the crown there. Good call.

Yeah, I just disagree with the rule. The old spearing call is one thing, and head hunting a defenseless receiver another, but targeting in the name of "player safety" is a bit much. I should have prefaced by saying I'm not a fan of either team, and ejecting guys for making football plays just waters down the game as a whole. :soapbox:

Today’s player:

Down by 13, other team about to score again. WR drops a pass the defender had nothing to do with. Defender gets up acting like he just made the play that won the game.
I am not one to begrudge players celebrating, but within the last couple of years there has been an absolute explosion in the frequency with which players do this and it gets way, way under my skin. I have seen players do this when their team is getting blown out and it makes me embarrassed to like the sport. That sounds dramatic maybe, but it's on par with soccer players flailing and screaming like they've been shot when another player enters their safespace.

Just what I was thinking.

I can't stand Ohio St but Dobbins is a beast. If he goes to right team he will be fantasy stud.

Lawrence walking around dazed on the sideline -was picking his nose as well.

Yeah we’ve been on the öööö end of this call several times. Gotsis against UNC a few years back for one of the most uninteresting tackles in history. Had one against Duke at home where the Duke kid even looked surprised. Carpenter against USF in 2018 when the runner imitated the contact.

And some BS ones the other way too. VT had a kid ejected in 2018 for basically guiding Oliver OOB.

Still it’s been a rule for years and consistently called. Defenders have to adjust.

Anyone else notice Young was lined up offsides as they highlighted him on 3rd? Didn’t matter, but comical no call.
