This is the one thing that sets the sec apart from other conferences and is why they are in their current state. They spend all of their time talking up the conference members. Dabo gets this and talks up the acc every chance he gets. We should want every one of our conference mates to win bowl games and do well. Fight each other like siblings, but defend each against the outside.
You forgot the part about us being Tech fans who hate everyone, including ourselves.

:bowrofl: Like the triple option is the primary reason the #1 & #2 QB recruits in the country weren't interested in GT.
Was it the only reason? No.
Was it the primary reason? Well....since they didn't even consider the school because it ran the TO........come on...you're a Tech guy, you should be able to do the math.

Well since this post aged well, how will the Tiggers do against LSU? Since OU didn’t cover anyone the entire game.

I want it to be a fun, close, Clemson win. I don't think that will happen. They were my pick to win the CFP, but I don't think anybody can beat the LSU team we saw yesterday. What Burrow accomplished makes no sense and I'm angry about it and I really have no idea why. We're all picking on Oklahoma and treating them like a cupcake because LSU made them look like one. But the late Sooners were a good football team, and an improved squad from last year. LSU made them look like a cupcake because, I think, they are in a class of their own this season, and the gap between them and anyone else is really as wide as the point differential of the Peach Bowl.

Clemson is plainly a better team than Oklahoma, and I think they're better than Ohio State by a wider margin than last night's game would indicate. Clemson isn't going to have to play a perfect game to be in it, but if LSU starts with ferocity anything like what they displayed yesterday, and/or if Clemson starts as slowly as they did last night, it could get out of hand and over with quickly. The Tigers abilities to fight back in the second half will count for nothing if they're under the kind of deficit LSU put on OU. Lawrence and Etienne are going to need to shine bright, hot, and all night long. It is difficult to imagine that happening against those homicidal maniacs in the yellow helmets.

That's a lot of fluff to say: this is Football as art vs Football as an excuse to eat faces. I prefer art, but the face eaters made me piss my pants yesterday afternoon.

Can you, or anyone who thinks Clemson wins, tell me how you see this happening? I want to believe.
after watching LSU yesterday, it’s a tough argument to make. Possibly Clemson confuses Burrow early and Lawrence gets the vertical passing game going with some quick strike TDs.....then CU/LSU trade scores the rest of the game and CU barely hangs on.

Probably not going to happen but That’s all I got.

Exact same post from last year before they played Bama
Exactly what I was thinking. I remember no one giving Clemson much of a chance last year and they came out and made Alabama look like the cupcake.

But Clemson did have a better defensive line last year.

Just like everyone being down on Bama and pegging Lawrence as Heisman winner for Clemson crushing Bama in the title game, the hype over LSU for crushing Oklahoma is recency bias. If you look at LSU's volume of work, you will see that they can easily get into a dogfight with a good team. Clemson has the goods offensively and defensively to do the same. Not sure who comes out ahead.

I don't think a game where one team gives up 55 points in a half tells you anything.

Even the greatest offense should not be able to out up 50+ points in a half against a title contender defense.

That indicates to me that either Oklahoma was highly overrated or more likely, they just had a terrible game plan going into the game and we're never able to recover.

LSU is very good. But I don't think the Oklahoma game told me anything new other than maybe if you have a bad game plan for them they can really put the hurt on you.

GT now gets the same payout, whether Clemson wins or loses. However, I’ll pull for Clemson. If they can win at least we can say the ACC has won 3 of 4 NCs everytime someone makes fun of ACC football. I think LSU wins easily, though.

Clemson #1 in the country in total defense
Ohio State #2 in the country in total defense
LSU not top 30 in total defense.

Gaggers were #4 in total defense and we see how that turned out.

Biggest thing I saw was Trevor having a pretty bad first half. I think he'll be better but I don't see Clemson's defense slowing LSU down a ton.

The biggest difference is Clemson O. Uga was actually pretty pedestrian on O this year.

The Gaggers are nowhere near the same league as Clemson.
