Chan Gailey is back!

Chan is a good OC. He plays complimentary football and controls the game well. He'll get them more wins than the previous guy.
Earth to Chan: The NFL has changed dramatically in the last 10 years and playing field position and defense are guaranteed ways to lose because you cant keep up with the other team's 24+ points. Might want to consider the forward pass on downs other than 3rd and 4th.

Hard to believe, but Chan might make Tua into the next Kordell Stewart. :lol2:

you mean like out of the league in five years?

(hard to believe Stewart spent 11 years in the NFL. Seven of which he actually played significant amount of time. It just seemed he was gone quick)

This guarantees they’ll win 3 more games next year. The CGE effect.

Dolphins will go 7-9 or 8-8 next season.

CGE will actually translate into a 9-7 record in the regular season, never beating their biggest AFC rival, and a guaranteed loss in the playoffs.

What is surprising about this sort of hire for the Dolphins?

He is going to the Dolphins. That team is in the middle of a massive rebuild. This doesn't seem like a bad move to warm the seat for a year or two. I can't imagine the hottest young coaches are lining up to lead that collection of offensive players. Now, two years from now when they have their young QB and some other pieces the story will be different.
So basically what you’re saying is wait until you see what the next coach can do with his players?

To be fair, as an OC he has dealt with some pretty horrific QBs

1996 - Steelers - 15th yds - 11th pts - Mike Tomczak
1997 - Steelers - 6th yds - 7th pts - Kordell Stewart
2000 - Dolphins - 26th yds - 16th pts - Jay Fiedler
2001 - Dolphins - 21th yds - 8th pts - Jay Fiedler
2008 - Chiefs - 24th yds - 26th pts - Tyler Thigpen
2015 - Jets - 10th yds - 11th pts - Ryan Fitzpatrick
2016 - Jets - 26th yds - 30th pts - Ryan Fitzpatrick

Very weird. I was finally ok with moving on from our OC and then we hire a guy who hasn't coached in the league in 3+ years and who at best had 1-2 good seasons since 2000? It's such a strange move. I understand people saying he will bring a more simplified scheme which could help the younger players develop but aren't there like a million other coaches out there who would could run a simple offensive scheme?

Just thinking about this from the perspective of a rookie QB:

Josh Rosen was labeled as a cerebral QB that ran a pro style offense and scouts literally thought he might be too smart to play football. He struggled immensely to pick up the offense and the responsibilities of the QB position in this offense, saying several times that he was being asked to do things he had never done before.

Fitzpatrick is a vet that has run every offense under the sun and even he struggled until about half way through the year where it seemed to finally click.

Bring in a spread-based OC who is going to run an offense that a young QB will be much more familiar with and easier to pick up on. Fitz can still start the season, but Gailey will implement an offense that Rosen and a 2020 draft pick will be able to run at a higher level.
 I am now subscribed to the Dolphins subreddit. It'll be like traveling back in time to StingTalk in 2003.

I'm a FOCcer. Go Chan. We would have beaten UGAg 2008 & 2009 with Chan coaching. And had better recruiting classes

Can’t understand why he’d come out of retirement at his age...he must have a passion for this thing...
