should've been 2006...

2008 was pretty awesome.
1998 seems pretty strong. Before my time.
2014 and 2008 were cool.

I'd disagree that the 2009 team was better (at least offensively). If you go back and watch film, it's clear that we were still fooling and surprising a lot of people. In 2014, the plays hit so fast. We were executing at an extremely high level by the end of the season.

Outside of the playoff, the trifecta would be closing the season by beating UGA, winning the ACC, and winning the Orange Bowl. We accomplished two of those in 2014, and nearly all three.

I would have put 2009 over it if we had beaten UGA. Would've been a 12-win season.
what he said.

1998 with 2014 close.

1998 played 1 “small” school” - New Mexico State and lost 1 bad game B.C. 2014 played gsu, wofford & also tulane. Lost to puke & uncheats

1998 only lost to very strong fsu after that.

1998 beat 4 ranked teams and won against a better bowl opponent.

Scoring ratios very similar between both teams but hard to reconcile because don’t know impact of and when scrubs went in.

1998 - Lil Joe, Godsey, Burns, Wilder, Rogers (Phillip & Charlie), Claybrooks, Carmen, Key, Stimson, Page, Chris Brown,

1998 allowed 8 straight to stand

2014 was pretty epic. We started slowly, but by the end of the season we were absolutely dominant. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a better college offense.
The 2019 LSU offense is the best offense I've ever seen.

I won't argue with that. The talent on that LSU team is pretty incredible. Oregon and Oklahoma have both had some amazing offenses in recent history, as well.

What I loved so much about our 2014 team is that our 3 stars weren't just competing with elite teams, they were running roughshod over them. I don't ever remember being so confident in a GT football team's ability to establish its dominance through sheer force of will, and that was really fun to watch. The 1998, 2006, and 2009 teams were all more talented, but I think 2014 was far and away the best team by the end of the season.

In regards to LSU...

Joe Burrow is a beast, but he's also a pro QB basically playing college ball. He has a joke of an online course load, lives and sleeps in the LSU football complex, and spends his days in the QB room preparing like a pro quarterback all day.

Not to mention he's 23. He's already older than like 5 starting QB's in the NFL, including the likely MVP.

As good as it felt finishing the 2014 season, I still have a hard time giving our single best season to one where we lose back to back games to Duke and UNC.

To think of what that team would have been without those two head scratching losses. As many have already pointed out, by the end of the year the offense looked nearly unstoppable. That should have been a playoff team.

1998 and 2000 are why I'm the season ticket holder I am today. Great time period to be a student.

Maybe it's the nostalgia but I think 1998 noses out 2014.
