Well, it's central Texas so I'd imagine it may well be west of a center line drawn through the US...but I'm too lazy to look.

Don't know that I'd call that 'out west' but still....west of the Mississippi anyway.

The western part of Texas is often regarded as part of the west--Texas itself is sometimes lumped into the southwest, but it's a vast enough state that people can debate if it's "southern" or "western." I'm not sure why this is such a point of contention for you.

In any event, Leach is going to be much further east than he's been for most of his career.

Always liked Leach. Would welcome him here if the right circumstances/timing ever presented themselves.

Although I’m guessing the fan arc would be very similar to that of CPJ. Love him while he builds the program, puts up points, wins more than recruiting suggests, and gets snarky with the media. And then hate him when he can’t get over the hump, looks helpless against a few good defenses each year, recruiting plateaus, and continues to be snarky with the media.

I think this is pretty much bound to happen anywhere Leach goes. I wouldn't be against taking a chance on him if CGC doesn't pan out. Hopefully that situation never occurs, though.

People in east Texas call it west Texas, which is not the same as out west. It is west of the Mississippi River. While it may just be called south, that is a term that is generally applied to the southeast.

He’s coached in the Big 12 and PAC 12, which are generally teams referred to as west or Midwest.

Lubbock is certainly out west when compared with the southeast.

Throwing all that in the mix, I think we should call it North.

And when I think of out west, cowboy is the first thing that comes to mind.
Literally nobody would describe any part of Texas as “west”.
By rule, if you were a part of the CSA, you aren’t out west.
