Mike Leach to Miss State

CSB but I bought a Jeep from a fraternity brother for $1 back in November 2014. I got to keep it for 3 years until his son turned 16 and then he wanted to buy it back for the same $1. The catch was the jeep was in Bakersfield, CA.

I'd always wanted to do a coast-to-coast drive so I flew out to LA, bought the Jeep and begin a week-long trek back across the country. On the 3rd day, driving across New Mexico after leaving Albuquerque, the wind became so bad that I pulled over for a bit because even a 1970's Cadillac had pulled over. I figured if that land barge was struggling, it explained why I was being pushed back & forth in the much taller Jeep. So when I got to Amarillo, I said "screw it...I'm done for the day" and got myself a hotel room to ride out the wind.

The primary thing I remember about Amarillo? You could smell cowshit everywhere you went. I don't know how big their stock yards are there, but they must be significant because it was quite an ever-present smell.
Google 'Randall County Feedyard'. That's probably the smell.

Should have followed your nose to the Stockyard Cafe. Some of the best Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast I've found.

I got passed by a tumbleweed near Amarillo once.

On the interstate.

Dude, I was too tired after battling that wind all morning to do anything. I checked into a Marriott Courtyard about 2 pm and laid down to watch the NFL. Next thing I knew, I was waking up and it was 7:30...and that's highly unusual for me because I usually sleep about 4 - 5 hours per night.

Thinking about it a little more, I'm not sure Tech fans could cope with Leach not only going shotgun on 4th and inches, but passing on 4th and inches.
The problems only arises if it don't work

And when I think of out west, cowboy is the first thing that comes to mind.
Literally nobody would describe any part of Texas as “west”.
By rule, if you were a part of the CSA, you aren’t out west.
There are real cowboys in Starkville btw

CSB II. Funny you mention Bakersfield. On that same drive, I was in San Francisco and drove south to Bakersfield before heading east on I-40. Filled up the tank at some dusty gas station in the middle of nowhere, went inside to grab a coffee and pay for the gas, jumped back in the car and drove off. With the gas pump still sticking out of my tank. Tore it clean off the pump - gas spraying everywhere - people fleeing for their lives. I went about 30 more yards to not be in the blast zone when the attendant came running out. I yelled out to ask if he wanted me to stay but he waved me off. I pulled the disembodied hose out of my gas tank, drove off and never looked back.

Amarillo is not on I-10.

I’ve spent a couple of eternities in Lubbock in the 90’s. All I remember is heat, a sledge hammer, a fence, and an apartment full of blonds.

And heat.
More about the apartment full of blondes please

I bet ole Kirby is glad , he is not in the West. All of those coaches are winners.

The cowbell at MSU should be banned by the NCAA. If not, every team should be allowed to have artificial noise makers.

Don’t think MSU gets any special dispensation from NCAA about those do they? They just can’t ring them during a play.

Not sure I can tell much difference between those and piped in music at loud levels between plays at most stadiums in last 5 to 10 years.
