GTAA Finances

It sounds like they slightly over estimated ticket sells. I think we did sell more Season tickets than in the recent past (2017 or 2018) but people stopped coming to the games so they weren't selling single game tickets as much and if people don't come to the games then you don't get all the other revenue. The NC State was especially bad attendance wise: 2 bad teams after the VT debacle. I was planning to go to State but the other 2 games I attended were Citadel and VT so I didn't want to jinx us with my presence and I sure didn't want to sit through another losing performance at home. I expected us to play well and win and I'm glad they did.

Bottom-line is attendance hasn't been good for awhile. Anyone know the best attendance outside of UGA and Clemson the last 3 seasons.

ACC top 25 opponent? Thursday night game? Prime time game at BDS?


Nope, opening game in 2017 against Jacksonville State. They brought a lot of people but I think for whatever reasons, GT fans soured on the program shortly after that and quit coming to games.

Football wise I understand if we struggle again in 2020 but it sure would help the health of the program to have a positive year (with a lot of home wins).

Most normal people don't want to be sitting outside in the sun on a September afternoon. Auburn started their comparable Tulane and Kent State games at 6:30pm and 6:00pm for comparison.

I think if you really want be bring change, get Cabrera to stop the admissions office's practice of crapping on legacy applicants. If a legacy applicant has the grades and test scores they should get in. Second and third generation alumni are good for supporting the school and for supporting the GTAA; that goodwill should be nurtured, not squandered.

Pretty sure the game times are dictated by television contracts, not the convenience of the people attending....and that's part of the issue.

We don't sell beer now but that doesn't stop a significant portion of our fanbase from entering the stadium pretty well juiced up from pre-game tailgating.
 
If we are putting in the money for LED lighting, I imagine that we will go ahead and get the light show capability first done by Alabama and copied by uga.

"our technical competence" It's really sad that as an institute of technology this statement is true. I'm glad to hear they are making upgrades. I've been saying that upgrades and renovations have been needed to the stadium all season. Let's hope they upgrade the sound system as well. Last years overall production was a train wreck. From mics not working, to uncoordinated band and PA music, and more. In addition to a swag coordinator, we need a game day production coordinator.

But it is true for a lot of others, not just us.

And if one of our biggest hopes is the selling of alcohol - then things may be worse than we thought.

Just win vs good teams.

The PA person is one thing and that’s probably because we have someone in charge of stadium music and video presentation that knows more about My Little Pony than football.

The other is probably due to the budget issues. It’s pretty hard to have everything working when you are dealing with duct tape bandaids everywhere.

^Been saying this for years -knock off a couple of seats per row and provide a bit more room. One of my seats is an aisle seat so I’ll hang a bit into the aisle so there a little more room for whoever attends with me.

One of the greatest decisions I made was to get the Stinger Seats added to my seats this past season...keeps people in the seats beside you from trying to edge over onto your seat.

Admittedly I go to a pro game, in any sport, about once every two years... but there’s always obnoxious drunks around. I can remember many thoroughly unpleasant games at yankee Stadium or Shea.
