i think you answered your own question. If he was all that then someone would have offered. At this moment we have 2 kickers on scholly...I think adding a 3rd would have me calling for a CGC psyche eval.
If I ever have to watch Brenton King kick a football again, I am just gonna snap.

The top kicker in the state from Allatoona HS does not have a P5 offer. Why aren't we on this kid? I don't want to hear the argument we don't want to use a scholly on a kicker, that's just ludicrous. We need a kicker that can kick it consistently to the EZ and has a decent chance of knocking them through when we bog down inside the 40. Plus this kid is a good punter too.
Offer him a pwo if you think he’s any good. No scholarship.

A kicker that can consistently put the kickoffs in the end zone and make FG’s can win us 2 more games.
I’m sure that’s what we thought when we wasted two scholarships on kickers. I wouldn’t give a scholarship to a kicker absent a 2 year demonstrated history of making kicks. And I mean college kicks.

not commenting one way or another on HOW we go about getting one. Just saying that’s it’s a very important position and that we need one badly.

I dont have a problem giving a scholly to a specialist up front (not now, obviously, because we have 3). Butker and Harvin were top guys at their positions, though. King was a reach. Wesley earned his, but scholarships given to walkons are only guaranteed one year, to my understanding.

Edit: FWIW, Wells is no longer listed on the 247 scholarship distribution for 2020, so I wouldnt be surprised if he was quietly back on walkon status.

As multiple people have stated...whether or not we need to upgrade that position, we cannot afford to give another scholly to a kicker based on the present state of the roster.

So back to topic....have we had any OV's this weekend? I know there are just a few spots left.

I don't get the whole waiting until February thing, especially in the case of Gibbs. I know he has a phenomenal upside as a running back, but flirting with the factories doesn't seem to be a good strategy.

It does if you are thinking about going to a factory, also I'm sure those recruiting trips are a good time for those kids.

Why would you want to go on multiple OVs if you already have your mind made up? These are 18 year old kids. I don't want crazy ass Ed Orgeron in that kids ear on a visit.

It's like if I already have my car picked out but I continuously go to other dealerships. Why would anyone put themselves through that?

Do you think going on an OV would be a lot of fun or a chore?

I feel like it's not like your analogy though...these are quite literally kids who are being aggressively sought after by famous coaches and in some cases legends. That will likely never happen again in their lives. Why not drag it out? Why not have Saban and Dabo and whoever else make you feel better about yourself for a few weeks longer?

In the case of the car, it's a material possession that you are actually spending your money on. From these kids' perspectives, is Saban going to pay more, or is Kirby?

If Gibbs, Wilder, Davis and Morton all tried to sign...then I assume we have room?

I get the impression Jayson Jones is likely off the table...although there is some noise around potentially Baylor or Oregon for him.

I'm really not sure whether there are other potentials out there for this class.

Because a lot of times Saban or another factory is going to hit the kid with last minute blueshirt/greyshirt options and push for a year at a JC. By that time, other doors may have closed.
Of course, I was never a 4 or 5 star athlete, so I really don't know what is going on. I just know if I committed, I'd sign at the first opportunity and get with the program - either early entry or having the S&C staff give me some workouts and goals to meet before joining the team in summer
