Anyone have an accurate list of returning scholarship players? It seems we are oversigned by 10-15 players, never thought I would see the day.

I find this is a little handy but it’s not great. It doesn’t look at position changes and is slow to update.

If I did it right and the current public commits and signees are here in August, here's what it looks like by position group:

(Ignore position flexibility and just go with that 247 site for now)

QB - 5
RB - 8
WR - 15
TE - 2
OT - 9
OG - 7
C - 1

DE - 16
DT - 5
LB - 10
CB - 8
S - 9
K/P - 2
Transfers (not included in the above numbers) - 2

That's 99. And if memory serves, we're talking about taking 3 more (cause people like Gibbs for instance are counted in these numbers).

Does 102 before attrition sound right to everyone based on their understanding of the current situation?

I think 2 of our new DE move to DT and one is really a LB

what’s not public knowledge is who is close to graduating or considering g transferring and who is so banged up a medical is a consideration. Granted that should not be public knowledge.

We're at 92 right now. The 247 list still has guys that graduated and were recognized on Senior Day. We should be adding at least 3 more to the class of 20.

Christian Campbell, Tyler Cooksey, Nate Cottrell, Tyler Davis, Tay Glanton, Omahri Jarrett, Scott Morgan, Jared Southers are all done. Lucas Johnson has announced his transfer.

So we are looking for 10 more departures in one way or another?

It will be several undersized linemen and spare RBs, and a sprinkling of all else IMO.

Even so, we've still got 4 or 5 too many at DE. And obviously WR is way overbought as well, with most of the former A-back room counted there.

It was announced today that Clempsen was considering leaving the ACC due to the oversigning being done by Georgia Tech's Geoff Collins.

The team made 3 field goals all of last season. That has to be one of worst kicking seasons in football history. It can’t get any worse.
Oh yeah? How about letting a team beat you by running back not one, but two, kickoff returns the distance of the field for TD's in the same game....kicking to the same guy after he already did it once.

Well yeah, I mean the whole operation has been about as ööööty as possible since Butker.

I’m guessing we won’t have 2 kickers on scholarship next year

For certain. Wells doesn't show as a 2020 scholarship player on 247. Schollies given to walk ons are only one year unless re-earned, to my understanding. Only question is if we start the season with any on scholly.
