Damn, my son was a dominant 7th grade, 12 year old defensive lineman at 5'5 160 lbs this season. I couldnt imagine the physical mismatch of him going against a 6'3" 250 lb monster next year, even if he grows a few inches and jumps to 180 lbs.

It looks pretty athletic from those videos. His "growth" as a player will depend on his athleticism and his ability to add muscle mass, strength.

There are a ton of big people that can't play Div 1 football.

I think we had offered a freshman or maybe even 8th grade QB under CPJ. It's just the way things are going. You want to get in there and express interest, build a relationship early.

Probably more like two/three tons worth.

Heck- I saw the thread title "Garrett Landing" and i thought some GT guy had built a new subdivision and was offering us a discount.

Good Luck to the young man but there is a ways to go yet. I remember when Charles Dudish became the starting QB for powerhouse Avondale as a 9th grader.

You'll find out this fall.

In Gwinnett, we divide the 8th graders into two leagues (Div 1 and 2) where each youth association typically fields a team in each division, with the kids that have hit puberty in one division along with the better athletes among the group.

Yeah I'm nervous about next year. It will be his first year in the unlimited weight, 14 and under division as a 13 year old 8th grader. He could potentially go against some very mature 14 year olds and he hasn't hit puberty yet.

You want a kid out of Central?
Get the Hopkins kid, he of the viral Instagram video from a year and a half ago where he broke like 11 tackles on one play in a middle school game.

So you are saying that I am saying I am old? Why, I outta ......

But, yes, I am.

And Avondale back then was on par with Valdosta ( or very close) and to have a 9th grader start at QB - holy crud.

Last I heard Charles was in some sort of construction but you may very well be correct.

His recruitment was strange. For the time it was almost national sports news, but his signing was no big show. It was kind of like in the spring of his Sr year and everyone knew he decided on GT.

I think he had too much put on his shoulders. I understand he did find happiness in life.

Hope the young man this post is about can handle it all.
