DRad begging for ticket sales...way behind

Obviously posting on the message board is free. I'd like to figure that if you're "hard core" enough of a fan to post on the board, then you're "hard core" enough to spend the time and money to go to the game.

Yeah but sometimes reality has to take precedence. I'd go, but odds are if I do at best I'll be out money for books next semester or, at worst, I can't afford tuition. Granted, Tech may be a at a disadvantage in that there might be very few Tech fans are of the sort to do ridiculously stupid things to go to games.

The Georgia Game has nothing to do with this. If you're still whining over the Georgia game then you don't get it.

Tech fans are too pragmatic; too cheap. They want Tech football to succeed, but they don't want to pay for it.

It is however, unfortunate that the economy sucks and the game is on a mid week evening.

This game is Jan 5, a Tuesday. I don't have the time to take 2 days off of work (maybe 3) to go see this game. Even then, while Tampa was drivable for me, Miami is not. I can't afford air fare.

I know it is tough taking off work. I am doing it, but I know what I will have to come back to! We are starting a brand new assembly area, and the only Quality Engr will be absent, but my boss said "do it if you can afford it." I also live about 1 hour N of you.

I will be riding down with a 72 year old with the spirit of a 20-something. It is a difficult thing for my budget also, but I have to support this coach and this team if I can.

Anyway, I agree it is a sacrifice, and I understand why many are not choosing to do it, but I sure wish more could.

Go Jackets!!

I'll be there somehow, but everyone I normally travel with is having a hard time getting things in line to go. Tuesday right after the holidays is rough. Projects getting going again, first time everyone has been in the office in a month, lot of people with vacation time that doesn't roll over, etc.

I have the money and time, but don't want to fly for personal safety. I suck.

Bull****. If you don't think that game didn't suck a lot of excitement out of the Tech fan base, then you weren't paying attention. No one is whining, just stating the obvious. If you don't like it, don't read it. The point is that D-Rad can't expect phenomenal ticket sales when the team loses our second-to-last game of the season to our rivals at home. No amount of credit card abuse by a few dozen of us here is going to make up for the lack of enthusiasm in the wider fan base. When people's budgets and calendars are already tight, a little less enthusiasm at the end of the season is going to have a larger than normal impact on attendance.

I have made it to the games that I could afford to go to. It is a little difficult and expensive to go back stateside more than once a year.

I would also consider donating $25 towards a less fortunate kid attending, but I do not see anything in place.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to attend the game. There's something crucial happening on a project and I absolutely have to be in the office unless something catastrophic happened to me.

I'm pretty sure Wake played on 1/1. That's a completely different story. I would save money, carpool down and see the game if that were the case. But it's not. It's 2 vacation days plus airfare plus other expenses. I would if I could.

GTAA and Champion Sports should work TOGETHER in setting up charter flights and/or buses with "reasonable" pricing.
What everyone has stated on here and on The Hive, it is a combination of many factors. The hotels in the entire area down there are price gauging in my book as compared to Atlanta pricing. Add the stupid decision to have this game on Tuesday (dumb, dumb, dumb), it is just very expensive to get down there.
I do know many, many Iowans schuedule vacations during and after the holidays because of the weather. They have that one on us. But airline tickets and hotels is the number sole factor in many Tech fans not going.
I know that I spent $800 for two going down to Tampa and I drove. We can gripe about everything but GTAA should also step in here. Luxury buses could be the answer or charter flights.

I'll already be back in school for the spring semester....stupid medschool

It is a bummer that they have moved these big games to the first week of work, school, etc.

I had to move two client meetings...and my kids will miss three days of school.

Cannot change med school !

I remember a buddy of mine in 1990 called in sick to work back in Atlanta from Orlando....but then he stormed the field after we beat Nebrasks and ended up shoving his face directly into a camera for Channel 2 news. He got busted!

People don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to go see a meaningless game on a Tuesday night right after the holiday season? Shocking!!!!

I will be there but I won't be paying $125 to sit in the upper corner when there will be many cheaper tickets in actually good locations.

good grief...look at it as a contribution to support GT. It is not like you are buying a new television and shopping price.

There is a lot of truth in that.

There are tons of logical reasons not to go....but life is too short to let what may be a memorable experience for decades go by. My kids will remember it forever...hopefully in a good way!

flights are 300 bucks and won't get cheaper. i'm out.

but you live in Atlanta...you can drive.

I am going to have to drive 10 hours with 2 kids because ariline tix are $600 from where we live. The drive will be forgotten...the memories of Miami, the Orange Bowl, GT vs. Iowa will not.

I saw a similar thread on the Iowa board...many many peoply driving from Iowa!

I'll be attending as this is a huge game, plus it helps that I work for Delta Airlines.. So flying is not a problem..

Can you give me four airline tickets! :laugher:

I tried Delta through Atlanta and Continential through Tampa...everything north of $600....so this family of four will be driving 10 hours it appears.
