Don't want it to happen, but Hokies have a schedule set up for a great run at the title game. If they get by Boise they will be highly ranked after week 1 - say in the 5 to 7 position. Then they play James Madison, East Carolina, BC, NCSU, Central Michigan, Wake and Duke before they get 12 days to play us at their place. After that, two chalenges at Chapel Hill and the U. They will beat the Hoos and would likely beat the mediocre champ of the other division. No FSU or Clemson on their schedule. They have a chance to be 13-0, what it will take to get an ACC champ to the title game. I hope we mess them up in November.

yeah, their schedule sets up nicely for a title run but don't overlook BC. they always give VT a good game in chestnut hill

They definitely have the right schedule for a run. I think we could take them out, and UM will look to revenge the damage VT did to their season last year. If we don't manage to repeat as coastal champs, it might be good to have an ACC team in the championship game.

I know where you're coming from, but.... pulling for Beamer? The evil one?

Just, wow.

(Damn, wrong thread again! Must remember to keep all Just, Wows in the clearly titled "Just, Wow" thread.)

I hate the collective of VT fans that I am forced to live around. I hope we bring those bitches down.

Have you seen our schedule? It's looks pretty nice too.

@UNC, @WF, @VT, @CU, @UGA

With exception to Miami, arguably 4 or 5 of our toughest match-ups are on the road. I don't see this as 'setting up nicely.' We do drop FSU for NCSU, but other than that, I think last year was the more favorable schedule when compared to this season.

The UNC-LSU game will be a nailbiter compared to the Boise State game. Boise State in a romp, in the umpteenth straight embarrassing opening weekend for the ACC.

When you have a QB like Tyrod Taylor who is talented but very inconsistent you are bound to slip up in 1 or 2 games. I hope we are one of those games.

Boise isn't going to embarass VT. If VT plays awful, they lose 20 - 14 at worst.

I really hope they are undefeated going into our game, so that we are responsible for crushing their NC dreams. No fan base in the country is more desperate for a championship. I'll be at the game and the sight of 65,000 broken, anguished hillfolk would be beautiful.

But just think how great we'll be/look(more important?) if we go undefeated away?

I'll start by saying that no game is a gimme - we all know that.

@UNC - I still don't worry too much about UNC. They are still UNC after all.
@WF - This should be the closes to a gimme of the 5.
@VT - This will be our toughest game all year - theirs too. It's a wash when comparing our schedules though.
@CU - They've lost their Superman. We should win going away; however, it is Clemson, and we always play them close. I just don't see us losing this one.
@UGA - Who really knows about this one? I will NEVER assume a win in this game though.

Overall our schedule is the best I've seen in some time.

Boise State is much better than Virginia Tech. The only chance the Gobblers have is the fact it is the first game of the year and it is on their home field. That gives them a shot but if Boise State plays their A game they will win by double digits.

Va. Tech has worked it's way into that group of programs that the media always over rates. Programs like Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan and Olkahoma. I think we will put a beat down on them on a Thursday night in Blacksburg. Looking forward to it.

Go Jackets!

While I understand your sentiment, I feel that's a little harsh... Through so many seasons of 10+ wins, they get the benefit of the doubt. I think VT could beat Notre Dame, Penn St, Oklahoma, and Michigan.

That said, I agree we'll take it to them in B'Burg!

Go Jackets!

IMO this is an easier schedule for our team to handle than last year. Most of our tough opponents are faced later in the season. This gives our offense time to fix things and (barring injuries) by the time we reach these games, it will be very efficient.

As for VT, we get a week plus 4 days to prepare as well, so you cant complain that this will be unfair game for either team. In fact, it may be the best game of the regular season in the ACC next year.
