CMR is heating up his own seat

I disagree with 1. He was a good coach in the pros. If they get john jenkins on Saturday then their defense will be top 25 easy.

2 is absolutely correct about bobo, but dead wrong about Murray. Murray played very well for a freshman qb. I do think his stats will decrease this yr, partly bc of bobo and partly bc of aj, and Durham both leaving, but Murray wasn't the problem at uga last yr.

3 I hope you are absolutely correct, and from recent history you probably will be.

Sidenote: hope you are right about all 3 of these and that uga does go 4-8 this season. They'd fire richt, hire Dooley, have expectations higher than they are already, and run him outta town after 2 or 3 6-8 win seasons.

He was a great line coach in the pros, and a good position coach in the pros and in college, and he probably won't waste his talent like Martinez. However, as a defensive coordinator for the Browns he was fired after two seasons for being nearly dead last in the league in every defensive statistical category. This was the only coordinator job of his career. He made it very evident last season that schematically he is outclassed by the majority of college OCs.

As for Murray, he wasn't even supposed to be the starter. An unfortunate set of circumstances led him there, and he may not be there after (or perhaps even midway through) the season. Here's the kicker, it probably won't even be his fault. Bobo will more than likely get frustrated because his throw-it-to-the-same-two-guys-every-play offense won't produce enough points for Grantham's be-bigger-than-the-other-guy-and-run-at-the-ball defense without so much star power at wideout. If Richt's seat is "hot", Bobo's is a molten puddle on the floor. He'll crack, and Murray is not the clutch quarterback who will be winning any games on his own shoulders.

They lacked a decent run game last year and this Crowell kid could easily be their Marcus Latimore.

ugag still has the talent to make it to the SECCG.

Or another caleb king. Not many freshman RB do what Latimore did last year.

I do think that there is even more pressure on cmr b/c of all of the great recruiting classes he has had. Makes that idiotic fan base even madder that he can't win with all of that talent.

I don't think "the dream team" plays into this at all. There is pretty much a W# that if Richt hits it, he's there until he decides to leave, if he doesn't, he's gone. As much as I hate to admit it, if he wins the SECE and loses to us, he'll keep his job. If he doesn't compete in the SECE, regardless of what he does against us, he's gone.

I'm curious as to who they'd get. Smart is effectively an unproven commodity. Saban runs that defense. I guess they could try for Foster, but again, dude has a pretty good thing being the heir apparent in Blacksburgh. Who else brings something to the table that's significantly better than a guy that averages 9-10 wins per season with an occasional conference championship. Expecting national championships (even at a place like Alabama or Florida) is an unreasonable expectation.

Edit-
Another thing I am curious about is, UGA doesn't oversign like the other "elite" programs in the SEC. Would a new coach bring that mentality in?

UGA's schedule is very easy this year. All the prime time teams they play are going to lose key personnel and/or have to play them at home.

As much as I hate Boise, I'll give them this: they come to play, especially in games against BCS schools. Peterson gets his guys mentally tough and ready for the field. Those guys play tough, not scared. UGAg is going to get knocked on their asses from the start - it's going to set the tone for the season. I watch their games and Richt's teams are not the kind to come back mentally, at least not right away. I predict losses to Boise, USCe and Ole Miss early, then they'll collapse again on the back half of their schedule after their annual asswhipping from UF, ending their season with a home loss to us. Probably wind up 6-6 ... again.

Im just happy my alma mater (Gators) have owned Ugay every year, hope it continues with Muschamp heading the ship!

Maybe he wants to be fired. I can think of a lot worse things than to be told don't come to work tomorrow and here's a large check.

+1 - Wouldn't you love being handed a fat check and then being told to go sit at the house?

Highriser, your new avatar makes my last comment about your old avatar seem pretty gay.

Lol I know I didnt see ur comment till after I had changed it, figured u meant the previous one, may have to change it back! :hsughcool:

I thought you were being clever and cheeky and that I had been owned. :laugher:

Is Georgie not losing some key personnel themselves? Last time I checked losing your best offensive and defensive players was significant (see Tech 2009 -> 2010).

The SEC East is watered down, but I'm not ready to crown the dawgies just yet.

In the words of Dennis Green, "IF YOU WANT TO CROWN THEM, THEN CROWN THEIR ASSES, BUT THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!"

There is a lot of truth in this thread.

But to defend the devil, Bobo appears to be an outstanding QB coach, and he whipped Murray into a decent college QB awful fast under fire.

I will also add that that the white WR kid Kris (IIRC) they had was a baller. As was AJ of course. And I was in fear of them all season knowing that if they could get both WR on the field at once it would be near impossible to shut down their passing attack. (When they only had one that one could easily be schemed to have minimal impact.)

Other notes
1. They lose both WR unless I am badly mistaken. To get close to what they had they will need bigtime improvement at this position from the players they still have.
2. If Murray continues to progress like Bobo's other QBs, Georgie will be a contender.
3. Auburn will be a shell of last year's team, and last years team was far from a dominant MNC team.

S Carolina will winn the SEC East..They still have Garcia and all of their 7 ft WR's. Lattimore is still there and their defense is still in place.

USC will get Clowney probably too.

Has anyone looked at Floridas schedule? Auburn and Alabama at home..LSU too

Usually I'd agree with this, but I don't think Dawg fans need any help setting unreasonable and delusional expectations of grandeur.

Forgotten about Joe Cox and Logan Gray already? Murray was a top recruit and has loads of talent, he could make a lot of coaches look good. That said, look for him to take a step back next year w/o AJ Green and Kris Durham.

Ouch, UF draws arguably the 3 toughest teams from the west. They might whip the mutts again, but no chance in hell they win the east.

SC is clearly the best, but they play Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi St.

UGA draws a slightly easier group from the west trading Arkansas for Ole Miss. I think the UGA vs. SC game will decide the East.

The SEC West will be brutal. The only weak team they have is Ole Miss.

I think he did a nice job with Cox at least. But clearly that is just an opinion.

seems every other thread here is about ugag...and it seems like some know more about their players and schedule than our own team. geez, the obsession. I guess domination has that effect. ug. :dunno:
