Ealey suspended indefinitely...

Richt brought the Crowells into his office, which overlooks the indoor practice field. They looked out and the UGA offense was all lined up, but with no tailback. Richt handed him a helmet and a #1 jersey and said (paraphrasing) "are you ready to take your spot behind that OL in the Dome next year?"

I can see why that would make some unhappy. But it should push them to beat him out, not quit.

Like my UGA-fan buddy said this morning, "The dude had his shot. He'll be bagging groceries in Swainsboro this year."

However, I do not think Richt is stupid enough to think he doesn't need Ealey. I think he'll be given every opportunity to get it straight and back on the team. King is having all kinds of academic problems (ineligible for bowl game and rumors have been flying about him not being enrolled right now.) If Ealey and King are gone that leaves them with two TB's with zero experience.

If they really did that, its a recruiting violation.

Not Tech ... GSU.

I haven't read the ajc article and comments BUT I was listening to Barnhart and Durham on the radio today. A guy called in who was in Statesboro at a restaurant and bar last night and saw Ealey at a table with a bunch of Southern recruits. When the boys left, the caller went up to the bartender and asked him if the boy at the table was Ealey. The bartender said it was and that Ealey was on a visit to Southern with other recruits and is looking to transfer. Barnhart and Durham had nothing to say....awkward silence. The caller did not sound like an idiot and was believable.....hmmmm.

unless he suited up and got out there with them, he didn't take part in a game-day simulation.
Not sure of the rules but here is an article describing what happened:
That next morning Mark Richt — the coach who takes stoicism to new frontiers, the one so criticized for his lack of sideline showmanship — staged an elaborate production for Crowell’s benefit.
The 18-year-old and his family were shown to Richt’s new office, overlooking the recently completed indoor practice facility. As they visited, the Crowells noticed activity down below. Players began filing onto the practice field.
“We got up and looked out,” said Debbie Crowell, Isaiah’s mother. “I didn’t know what was going on, but Isaiah could tell that they were getting into formation. And there wasn’t a tailback.”
The stage was set. Richt escorted the family down to the field. Crowell was handed a Georgia jersey — No. 1 on the back — and a helmet and asked if he wanted to take that empty spot in the backfield. Debbie Crowell remembers Richt painting the scene of next season’s opener against Boise State, asking her son if he could see himself in that jersey and helmet, behind that offensive line, starting his career in the din of the Georgia Dome.
“Yes, sir, I can,” Isaiah said.
“My baby was excited. He was ready to go,” Debbie said.

If the jersey was personalized thats a violation as well, but this seems like nothing more than a bit of (really cheesy, and borderline creepers... like a dude holding a handshake just a little too long...) showmanship to get a recruit to swoon.

I'm sure no coach is above it, dealing with 17/18 year olds you gotta do some dumb ****.

Not good for their team morale for sure. Very possible UGA could start 0-2 in which case Richt is run off before the season is even over. They also might be on UGA XI by then, too.

I wonder who got to "play" the other members of the offense? Was Murray or Charles out there and since both fullbacks are graduating, who else lined up behind the QB?
And does that constitute a practice before the start of spring practice?
It smells more like a Lane Kiffin kind of move than anything else. Douchebaggy and over the top and overwhelming to an 18 year old kid who isn't very sophisticated and hasn't seen much of the world.
If I were Saban, I'd have had Crowell in my office on his OV and pull out a big fat NC ring and show it to the kid and tell him, "Come here, and you could get one or two of these." Then I'd pull out a Cracker Jack box ring and tell him, "Go to Georgia, and this is what you'll get."

Besides, it's hard to say Ealey got a fair shot since he split time, by design, with King in the backfield.
Let's see how well Georgia recruits next year after their haul this year. How many of those juniors are going to think that all that PT is being taken up by this year's class and there won't be any left for them for three years.

Oh please let this be the first of many Fulmer Cup points for the Nadlickers.

Went to Funeral home tonight in Wadley to visit a family and several emanuel county folks were talking about Ealey getting suspended and possibly transferring. He did as he pleased at ECI and had plenty of baggage when he joined the puppy pound in Athens.:bowrofl::naughty:

ugag just does not get it.

It is not about these individual "S/As" (:laugher:).

It is about richt, and where he is from, and the permissive attitudes he brought from fsu.

They are thugs over there. They will be as long as richt is there.

The arrests we see every year? About 1/2 of them are known to the public.

Are folks wanting richt to get fired? Would that not mean they could get somebody better?

Don't we have a better chance beating them with richt there?
