I hope all Tech football players realize how great a coach Chan Gailey is, and how he will do his best to help sell them to the NFL, if that is what they desire.

This is a quote from Buffalo Bills head coach Mike Mularkey...

On Freddie Smith being a "slash" player:

I'll be honest, it intrigued me. Yes. I looked at all the returners, I looked at all the receivers, when you see in evaluations from scouts and you talk to head coaches - Chan Gaily down there [at Georgia Tech] - he's used him as a quarterback. They try to get the ball in his hands, whatever fashion it was - he's that type of guy. It does intrigue me. Whether he can do it at this level or not, I don't know, but I know he's at least experienced at a high level of competition, and that part can be used for us.

When you read this, if you read between the lines, it is clear that Chan Gailey did a great job of "selling" the attributes of Jonathan Smith to the NFL and presenting him in the most positive light. That is such a classy thing to do. Chan Gailey didn't have to do that. This doesn't help Chan out in any way. Yet it gives Jonathan an opportunity to show what he can do. It gives him a shot at proving himself in the pros. There are a lot of so-called great coaches out there who don't give a rat's something-or-other about what happens to a player after they leave. Well, Chan isn't that kind of guy. He has sent Jonathan Smith off with the opportunity of a lifetime.

I think all Tech football players and recruits and potential recruits ought to be required to read this and realize what a great guy they have coaching at Tech.

Good Luck Freddie! I like the comment about a "high level of competition'!

I heard coach recently at practice talking to a NO Saints guy (they sounded like friends) about why they should take a chance on Freddie. He explained his work ethic, intensity, and big play ability. Said he will do anything he can just to get on that field. It helps kids when you have a coach with these kinds of connections.

Good Post BH
I appreciate that very much.
For a while it seemed the only thing we could read was negative posts. Glad to see you present the actual truth.
