Knew as soon as I heard it that a fuss would be made:

After the show, through a school spokesman, Johnson said he meant his response as a joke "but it was a poor choice of words on my part and I sincerely apologize. It was not my intention to offend anyone."

Advocates for people with mental disabilities have campaigned to stop the use of the word "retard" or "retarded" as a slur, calling it hurtful and dehumanizing.

I understand those that are against the use of the word "retard" as a slur, but I hate that we as a society have become so PC that a fuss must be made every time someone says the word "retard".

This. The media stirs all of this up because they want something good to write about, but they don't want any of the consequences of it. He isn't more than a college football coach, not a preacher, so he shouldn't have to apologize for something so little. The "retard" thing I do understand, but still.

to ask him how to spell "coach" for their ad or what?

Ish meant this reply as a joke but it was a poor choice of words on his part and he sincerely apologizes. It was not his intention to offend anyone.

PJ isn't going anywhere. Very few programs are a significant upgrade from us, and none that are want to run his offense because they can win without it. And only a handful of those are in the SE:

Big coaching upgrades from GT:
Michigan
Ohio State
Texas
Oklahoma
Southern Cal
UF
Alabama
Auburn
Penn State
Florida State
--------------

slight upgrades, but not enough: OK State, UCLA, Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas A&M.

We're on par with the other successful I-A schools. He isn't going anywhere.

Not to mention, he's 54, so if he wants to leave he better do it soon. And if he does, we'll probably hate him forever, because he'd leave is in quite a bind with finding another option coach or having to transition back.

Can someone clue me in?

I know the Pokes have the money factor with T. Boone Pickens sneezing g's all over Okie State, but do they have any other advantages? Wisconsin? Arizona? I know you said "slight" but I'm just not seeing what makes those even slightly better than us. If there's something I'm missing, educate me.

And I'd drop Southern Cal off of that first list for now. Aren't we still expecting that program to collapse from the NCAA's hammer?

This has been floating in Ole Miss circles since before Nutt's dismissal. Nothing but chatter.

Just trying to distract us from the UGAG game, CPJ aint going to Mississippi

Wisconsin has 80k people show up every Saturday and they are the #1 program in their city. That does make a difference.
