Any word on the NCAA appeal?

Are you considering withdrawing from the NCAA?

Yes, pretty much. I've stopped watching the SEC games completely - I refuse to support them and SECSPN (I find it funny how the SEC is the top football conference because of their top teams, but the ACC is not the top basketball conference even with their top teams. In football, power means greatness; top teams. In basketball, power means weak ass bottom feeders. But I digress.)

The NCAA has lost me of late. Truthfully if they don't completely retract our probation I may quit them. But if they don't retract our title, etc., I am done with them and will drop most of my support for Tech until they leave that group (since Tech didn't ask for complete change, I guess I'm tending to follow same). It is a complete joke to think that Tech is part of the problem of the NCAA, while Alabama brought in 135 recruits the last five years, and every SEC team purchases their National Championships.

By the way, athletics in Maryland get more from me than Tech and they will get a letter requesting my name be removed from their rolls.

Let me also add that it's ridiculous that we have to hire a prominent SEC attorney from Alabama to rescue us from an attorney in Atlanta who saw nothing wrong or illegal with what we were doing. Doesn't that bother anyone, that the NCAA is so crooked as to only "respond" to "their lawyers"?

Simply, how can the NCAA take away something they did not give us?

I hope the trophy is sitting beside Paul's bed. He polishes it every night in the blood, sweat, and tears of our players.

welcome to the real world of the buddy system and lawyerdom

Tech withdraws from the NCAA... then what? Tech is kicked out of the ACC, Tech loses it's TV income, there are no more televised games Tech can't get a Div I team to schedule them so the games are mostly against D-II teams, and Georgie drops Tech from their schedule.

For Tech, or any team, to drop the NCAA, it would need a large number of other schools to go with it. Four Superconferences could do it and form their own championship. But one team couldn't do it on their own. And I'm not even convinced one conference could do it on their own.

We could go NAIA and still beat Georgia State!

Well certainly. Tech would need to start the process of getting the ACC to quit the NCAA. If you don't think that'd matter...

It's funny, 25 years ago, I was told (by a Iowa fan) that the midwestern teams really only care about winning the Big Ten and getting to the Rose Bowl. I thought that was b.s. at the time. I don't anymore. Play in the ACC and drop the NCAA altogether.

The NCAA model is incredibly flawed and really we don't need to be a part of it. Few rules help Tech, which I believe is truly trying to play fair.

It's one thing to think the 4 superconferences will leave the NCAA, but it's another to think they will find a "fair" way to get along. Why do we support anything SEC. Look at Auburn, LSU, Bama, UGA. They all cheat, they all run off players, they all over recruit. Why are we in bed with them in the first place?

Do I believe it a stretch for Tech to pull it off by itself? Of course, but someone has to stand up and be counted. ohio state, uscw, auburn, bama, uga, miami, unc......$24.00.

We are "in bed with them" because otherwise we have a shot at nothing, nada. If it's just us or just the ACC that leave, then whoever is the best team in it gets to crown themselves king kid of the sandbox and that's it. Who says any bowl, let alone a BCS bowl, will ever invite a non-NCAA team unless its a huge group? Who cares about winning the conference if it doesn't mean anything. We leave the NCAA not as a group, then we are giving up our chance of ever being recognized for any accomplishment our teams can have.

Frankly, I wonder how much you actually hate the NCAA. It seems you care more about what they are doing than what the school you claim to be a fan of is doing. You really think cutting yourself off from Tech is making anything better? If more people thought that way we'd be even more likely to have to cling to richer, dirtier programs because of our own weakness stemming from lack of money and fan support. Boycotting Tech until they stand alone is only going to make them more likely to fall into a group.

Is the NCAA interviewing our players again this week? After all, it is UGA week and Thanksgiving.

Didn't Tech take its ball and go home once before? (Leave the SEC). And what good did that do?

I think its going to take an obvious case where the the NCAA sweeps a major scandal under the table with a big program like Auburn, UGAg, or whatever while another program like GT get hammered for a small violation again. If GT weren't in Georgia, our Congressional delegation would have raised holy hell after Auburn's investigation was swept under the rug while our ACC title was stripped. öööö like that is what is going to be the eventual downfall of that corrupt organization.

Personally, I think we should just quietly restore the trophy back into the trophy case regardless how the appeal goes and tell the NCAA to go öööö themselves....and make a major stink about them not doing öööö to Auburn. That carries major risks, I realize...but schools like GT always gets hammered while the big powers get by scott-free.

Even the UGAggers that despise GT with a burning passion believes we got screwed by those bastards in Indianapolis compared to other major programs committing far worse violations.

GO JACKETS!!
