Tired ass excuse. "I'm just such a dedicated student I can't be bothered." I'm going to vomit.
Vomit all you want, but there are MANY tech students like that. Just like there are alumni who live in Atlanta but don't buy season tickets to support their school every year.

I am a season ticket holder AND a student. If you aren't a season ticket holder and you are bitching about the students then go öööö off. I'm tired of all the students getting öööö on.

The sea of red had nothing to do with students not showing up and EVERYTHING to do with GT people selling tickets to their neighbors/co-workers. So no, we aren't saying the same thing.

It's a bigger problem that we can't keep the UGA people out of our stadium for a game as big as this.
If you want to fix that problem might I suggest winning more often than once every decade.

If you want to fix the problem that fixes that problem might I suggest winning the recruiting wars against the rest of the ACC/SEC and not just the Sun Belt.

Joking about planting pipe bombs at football stadiums online--great idea!

The very nature of the system lends itself to empty seats in he student section. Too lazy to type over the phone, but he current season ticket for student system is a non starter because it inevitably leads to empty seats. Block seating isn't the issue. Student season tickets is.

Ugh, just go back to urban camping for tickets as they used to do. Makes people make an effort if they want to go to games and no one gets shut out by any fault but their own.

Until the students fill their section on time, let it be first come, first serve day of the game. Embarassing to see so many empty seats in South endzone at kickoff.
The south end zone is the GDI section, so blaming the fraternities is stupid. It's simple really. It's Thanksgiving and we have a lot of students who don't care about football enough to fly back in from out of state the day after (especially when classes are held on Wednesday, meaning fly home Wednesday afternoon and have to fly back to Atlanta Friday afternoon).

four words: First come, first serve.

Tired of this öööö. If they want to sit together, then they can wait in line together.
+100

Back in the day, (old man cough), we had no problem filling up half of the lower east for big games. But we got in for the price of student athletic fee and could bring a date for free. Maybe Ma Tech shouldn't try to screw the students on Saturday too.

Student sections are embarrassing and it has nothing to do with needing to study. It has everything to do with it becoming much easier to get tickets and therefore much easier to blow off the game. This was not (nearly as much of) a problem back when I was in school (and that was only three years ago) -- and the line of demarcation is moving to online ticketing to make it "fair" for everyone.

I'm supposed to sit down there, but I don't. I really don't think they are great seats. I have a wristband to sit in a frat block, but I only use it to get in the north end zone. Student sections work for schools that have 30,000+ students and can afford to have a large fraction not show up. We have 13,000 undergrads, with sometimes more than half not showing up. Open the seating, I don't care, but stop complaining about the students.
Its a damn shame that we give the opponents better seats than the students. (Southeast corner) Put the enemy in the freaking upper deck and let our students have the entire section from the club section to the Southwest end zone.

Yes. Let's give more seats to students who don't even show up. :furious:

Go back to paper tickets. This way students who can't go to a game, yet have season tickets, can easily transfer the ticket. This seemed to work 2001-2005 when I was at GT.

Girl was reading a computer science book, and apparently had 10 feet of empty bleachers around her. At least she showed up

Not that long ago when I was in school we filled that mf up... I will do more than bitch on a message board.. Watch the news for pipe bombs at frat houses next year
There were definitely a lot of folks down frat row who were not at the game.

Dude, don't just blame the fraternities. A block next to my block is all GDI's and none of them showed. Fraternities are a part of it, but its not just them. Its the student body as a whole.

think it might have anything to do with their expectations of the outcome?
