10 Days To Prepare

It sure wasn't the first play from scrimmage or a possible onside kick was it?

We're like 2-7 or 2-8 after a bye week with only 2 wins coming in games where our D held the other team under 10.

We bascially become Duke after a bye week.

The more time our coaches have to coach the worse we become.

So what I see as the reason for the 2-8 is more the motivation problem. It seems that anytime the kids might need some extra cheerleading/motivation to keep their minds on the game, we fail.

I'm not in the training schedule, so I don't know, but my hunch is that when you have games 7 days apart most of the time the game is close enough thats it motivates you, but when you cross that week mark, it makes some players lose focus and need to be rallied, a point that our current coaching staff hasn't delivered on very often.

Right on it JTS.
2-8 --held Clemson to 9 and Maryland to 3.

It still blows my mind that we had 2 weeks to call that first play and still couldn't get it right.

A timeout before you even run ONE play? Stellar.

This is a very telling "stat". But I'm not an experienced professional like Chan. I'm "just looking at statistics".

What do we become next week after we lose to Duke?

Maybe we should've sent the whole team out after the first field goal and carried Bell off of the field.

Yeah, the two wins were also maybe the two ugliest wins Chan's had at Tech. It's almost like they forget things, not just that they don't learn new things.

That said, I wonder how teams do nationally after a bye week. Conventional wisdom would say they do better, but I wonder if the rustiness factor is present everywhere.

What kills me is at first when we went 4 wide and threw it opp direction to JJ.. i said alright maybe we do have a game plan tonight. Spread this fast defense and pick chip away at them. BUT HELL no! Deep balls in the area of the best corner covers in the ACC?? WTF??

And VPI had a week, less a travel day, and was coming off an absolutely morale crushing loss. But they were ready for us, and we were not ready for them. We were not even ready for Samford last night. Speaking of which: would you trade Gailey for Pat Sullivan?

Looks like UGA schedules a bye week to prepare for one of their biggest rival games of the season. At least this year, it seems to have worked against Florida.

I would have figured that an extra week for us to prepare and for beat-up players to heal would have been to our advantage. I was really surprised at the outcome on Thursday night and just didn't see that coming.
