10 year old has two scholarship offers

Kind of funny to me that a coach would even want to offer a 10 or 12 year old today. Odds are that coach won’t even be at the same school when the kids 18. Seems very Butch Jonesy

Offers are like candy. They give that shit out to everyone. Here's an offer!

They even had to make up the term "committable offer". "I'm offering you a scholarship, now you can't accept it and we can decide not to give it to you whenever we want, but it's an offer you can't refuse or accept"

All you need to know right here:

"Bunchie is a kid that comes around once every 10 years," Evans said.

In this case, that's quite literally true. Bunchie is only 10 years old.

Despite his age, Bunchie already has scholarship offers from Illinois and one mystery Pac-12 team, according to Evans

Shame on you, Illinois... and mystery [Pac] team

Isn't it really bad for your growth to do any kind of serious lifting before puberty?

Coaches won't offer a 10 or 12 year old. You don't know how those kids will develop as they age. Some kids develop early then plateau, some continue to develop. On top of all of that, you don't know if they kid will have the grades or SATs to get in.

When I hear things like this, I assume it's just a parent trying to make a big deal out of something that isn't.

Coach -> Parent: "Kid looks great. If he keeps dominating like this in high school, give me a call"
Parent -> Media: "My 12 year old just received an offer!"

Not to be weird, but I’ve never seen abs on a kid that young. Dude’s rocking a six-pack.

The heck they won't. There was a 13 year old lefty playing for East Cobb Astros 2 seasons ago who had 6 or 7 D1 offers already, two of which he got at 12.

And UGA had 2 of my players up to football games for unofficial visits when they were about to turn 15....one of them they even brought in for the UGA/LSU game. The other one of those two is now on their team, BTW.

It is rare but it most certainly does happen.

That was a rumor I remember in the early 90's. I'm pretty sure it's been thoroughly debunked at this point.

TLDR: No.

The whole article reads like an ad for this dude's "training center". ESPN is a joke. Kid will probably end up a decent linebacker or WR for Fresno State or UNLV, be drafted in the third round, and have a career-ending injury 3 years in.

But hey, Dad will always be able to wistfully reminisce on the scholarship offers his 10 year old son got that ESPN reported on.

The more important question is what place of employment provides a daily "four hour lunch break"?
