1990 GA TECH Nat'l Championship ring for sale!

I've seen these for sale on a regular basis. It wasn't just players who got them. Even office personnel got them from what I understand.

What's blotted out?
 
It definitely wasn't a player's ring since the listing claims it came from a guy who also has a 1988 Baseball Championship ring.
 
It says it is a staff guy's ring. "One of the most important and influential people in Georgia Tech History." Dede's dad??? After all, they gave GT the land for the school!!!
 
Am I reading it right, they used cubic zirconium for the ring instead of real diamonds. Pretty cheesy for a national championship ring to have CZ if you ask me.
 
That ring has been listed and relisted numerous times the last few months.

Kind of sad they can't sell it............

NCAA rules. Can't give something to the players that's worth over whatever $$ the figure is, so they use CZ.

c'mon. If it was a player's ring, you might get some interest. But the demand for a ring that says "Grounds Keeper Willie" or "Wes Durham" probably isn't as valuable.
 
Oh yeah for sure. Player ring= awesome, grounds keeper ring = sweaty scratched up butt rubbed.
 
That listing has way too many question marks and exclamation points in bright colors for me to even try to read it.
