1990 National Championship Ring

The description says this was an additional ring ordered by a player. I didn't know that was a thing.
Maybe he tried to use it as an engagement ring. His girlfriend said FU that’s not an engagement ring, so he had to go buy one at Zales. He just found this ring in his sock drawer.

A quick story....A friend of mine worked for the Ravens as a receptionist (blond). She was showing us her Super Bowl ring, we all tried it on. Later that evening her boyfriend (blond) and her and friends went boating and as they came into dock at a bar, a line grabbed the ring and pulled it off her boyfriends finger...the $35,000 ring went into the water.
Mortified the boyfriend jumped in to find it but the area had like a foot of sludge if you will. He and friends spent the whole night trying to find it. The next day they hired a diver and he had no luck. Eventually they went to the Ravens and insurance paid to make a replacement ring.
Much later however, a diver did find the ring of course and there was much celebration. I can't remember the specifics but ultimately the insurance company got the ring back and the diver was not allowed to keep it.
After a beer or two, and knowing the two involved, you would get a good chuckle hearing their story with all the emotions, actions taken, trepidations, hazards, and roadblocks involved. It was so good ESPN wanted to do a 30 for 30 on it. Ultimately the Ravens shut it down however.
