Will the jackets practice at the dome this week?

Will the band be mic'ed again to semm louder? I think it can really add to the croud noise for this game

I don't think they will mic the band again. I hope not anyway. They tried it against Clemson and they were a) either playing prerecorded songs or b) lagging a lot. It was completely out of sync and it really took the crowd out of doing the fight song.

I will be pretty pissed if they mic the band again for the above mentioned reasons.. unless they have eliminated the delay, in which case mic away

I wrote to Dan Radakovich saying that I wanted it off because sitting in the South Endzone you hear the band over the loudspeakers first, then what the band is actually playing second, so it's off by about a second which makes it hard to concentrate on it.

He said he got numerous complaints about it and that it wouldn't be on. I didn't hear it at the UNC game, so I'm pretty sure it's a no.

No reason whatsoever to mic the band.

Also, and I'm no expert, but I don't believe it is physically possible to NOT have a delay. It's not like 2 speakers at a concert where you can adjust each to make up for delays/distances...one of the sound sources is LIVE, while one is a recording of that live source.

People are mic'd all the time in situations when you can hear both the live source and the speaker and it works fine. Auditorium presentations, churches, political engagements, etc.

I don't know I just feel like it's a different situation.

When you have a person in an auditorium making 10% of the volume, and the speakers making the other 90%, a delay wouldn't be noticeable.

But when the source and the speakers are roughly around 50% each....I dunno. Just thinking out loud.

Either way, turn it off.

I am 90% sure that the fight song was prerecorded(not a miced band) and that's what was causing the delay. On other cheers, the speakers seemed to be transmitting a live feed of the band and there was no delay(although the sound quality was of course not as good.)

Why there was a different approach to the fight song and the other cheers I'm not sure. I think the actual live feed is okay. However I agree that I'd rather just let the band play without any enhancements.

forget putting a mic on the band, put one on the student section. Blare some cheering over those speakers. Just a thought.

That's against the rules. It was actually a major issue couple years back when the Colts were accused of piping crowd noise through the speakers.

I say pay the fine for airing it over the loudspeakers... we could get it Death-Valley (LSU) loud in there...

If we got caught doing that I bet we'd be forced to forfeit the win(if we got it.) It's cheating, in cold blood, not only being condoned but performed by the administration.

If the speakers were adjacent to the band there'd be no delay.

Winner. If any of you make the trip up to Hooville next week, pay attention to the uva band. They are mic'd, and have the speakers sitting at the bottom section of the band. I noticed no delay when we were up there a couple of years ago.

:( yes sir... I was being sarcastic though. Totally agree.

I talked to one of the OL guys on the trolly today. He said he didn't think the rain today would be to big of a deal because mondays are generally shorter practice times, and most of the work is done in the meetings and video rooms looking at correcting the last games mistakes and looking at VT. He said they could go to the dome as long as its planned ahead a little bit, but for 50 min in light rain its prob at the rose bowl fields.
