Notre Dame is a lock to go to the Gator Bowl next year so who will they face?

Clemson - maybe but I think they win the ACC or at least go to a BCS bowl

VT - See Clemson

MIA - no way

UVA - no can't go again can't sell tix this year

MD - prob not good enough and won't take fans

BC - See MD

UNC - Car Care and UNC have already agreed to bowl invite for next year

NCSU - another year needed for O'Brien though the CFA is likely

Wake - will never return to jax for a football game

Duke - votes on continuation of football program or adding female badminton next week

FSU - need to go at least 8-4 and beat GT but the chick-fil-A really wants bowden his final year and they pick before the Gator Bowl

GT - need to go at least 8-4 and beat FSU

So next year's Gator Bowl will be Gt vs. ND and Paul johnson will get to go for 2 in a row vs the Irish.

Our 2008 schedule will be tough:

On the road in conference @ Clemson, BC, VT and UNC --with FSU, Miami, UVA and Duke at home.

Throw in @ UGA and home with Miss St, Jax St and ??? --8-4 and a Gator Bowl berth would make for a very good season IMO.

Well for us to go 8-4 we'd have to beat:

East Western State
Duke
Jax St?
Miss St
UNC
UVA
BC
Miami

Likely losing to:
UGA
Clemson
VPI (what Brain came up with this rotation?)
FSU

I guess it is doable but I'd bet we'd need to win 9.

As does GT.

How is ND a lock? Don't they still have to win 6 games.

Obviously this is all speculation but it looks pretty good to me....that is unless GT ends up in the BCS bowl over Clempsin and VPI

You left out one important fact - Nobdy's Dame has to qualify for the bowl with enough wins. Is Charlie going to be able to find the secret in the chocolate factory?

We play three top 12 teams on the road and it will take a huge upset for us to win one of those three but after that I think we have some really winnable games on the road. UNC? BC? these are maybe top 50 teams next year.

We have Miss State, UVA and FSU at home which are the next three toughest games on the schedule IMO after the three biggies.

I think we go 8-4 as we upset one of the big 3 maybe and don't lose to the others. I could see us start 2-3 and finish strong depending on when we play who.

ND goes at least 8-4 but my guess is 9-3. weis can coach adn they go from the toughest schedule to the 50th toughest next year.

And he'll have 2 #1 classes in a row. I wouldn't judge ND (and Weis) by this season. It's fun to make fun of ND fans for the results this year but it's not going to be like this for long.

I'm very underwhelmed with Weis as a college coach, much moreso than Gailey.

I could have understood a 3-9 record for ND this year. Their first 8 games were brutal by every scheduling measure out there. However, I can't look past how epically inept they looked in those 9 losses. At one point, they were 115th or worse in every offensive category and 119th in a good number of them. Sure, they were inexperienced, but there's no way even Willingham's recruiting classes would justify doing that bad.

Weis seems to be a guy good at drawing up plays to be executed greatly by guys like Brady and Quinn. But with untrained personnel he seems hopeless.

ND may do well with Weis' recruiting, but it will be with another coach.

Well, they may be top 12 and they may not. We won't know until game week. Just a note though, I don't think next year's schedule is particularly tough...to me, it's our normal schedule and what we face year in and year out. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, is not to count on how good or bad teams will be a year in advance. BC loses Ryan for example. Maybe the have no offense next year? We just don't know.

coreect three preseason top 12 teams.

I agree i think next year's schedule is easier than this year's as BC is a significant downgrade and FSU is about the same as MD. ND this year is not as good as MSU next year but who knew that a few months ago? CLEM should be better than this year and VT not as good.

I think it's a 7-8 win schedule with Gailey at the helm so why not expect something similar from our new coach? I do think we'll start slower but finish better.
