2010/2011 Recruiting Thread

I think out OL philosophy may be being tweeked just a bit after the last few games and the last two bowls.
I doubt it will change because of this. The guys playing OLine the past two years were either recruited for a pro-set offense, or they have not had adequate time to mature.

That being said, it does seem like we have offered some monsters early for 2011.

On top of that, a lot of those pro-set guys are gone or have never seen much playing time. We've been playing with converted tight ends and walk-on defensive linemen, which makes the past couple of seasons even more remarkable for their success.

I hope we land these guys purely based on the cool name factor:

Quan Bray (QB/ATH)
CJ Uzomah (QB/ATH)
Jabari Hunt-Days (BB/LB)
Kyle Champion (DE) - if was me, I would officially change the spelling to include a '!' at the end.

Derrick Mitchell (DE) is so close to Derrick Morgan (DE) that this guy must be a monster.

I think we need to pull in a big WR in this class. Of the WR's listed who do we REALLY want?

This is the year we pick up 5-Stars. We need to build a wall around Atlanta and not let anybody out.

Here is a list of all the publicly mentioned athletes we've been connected with. I'll update regularly. I'm adding links to profile pages of the players on both Rivals and Scout. Click on the R, S or E next to their name.

THANKS BERRY!!!

Thanks also to gt23eric, GTland03, and all others who've provided good intel on recruiting this year and prior!

It's much appreciated.
Keep up the great work!

Chris Conley is a guy whose parents love us right now I knew him from living and attending North Paulding games and have spoken to his parents. Very nice family. All being said you never know, but the parentals are in our corner.

Here are some more names
Brandon Chubb DE
Jacob Baxter B back
Avery Walls DB
Trenton Brown OL
Darius Williams LB
Louis Smith WR

Zach Debell OL
Seth Hinsley LB
Joshua Walker DL
Sterling Bailey DE
Everett Golson QB
Vic Hardison QB

Add JD Jones out of Cartersville to the list of OL (6'3" 277ish). I know he has been to Tech to visit a few times and his parents like us too. Great Family!!!! :fingersx:
He is also friends with Gilbert #70

One of the biggest things I want to see out of this next year is how we recruit Defensive Players against UGA. The 3-4 D requires some pretty "tailor-made" people for NG and OLBs and I don't like the idea of going head to head with UGA for the local talent at these positions. It kind of sucks that they switch to the 3-4 right when we switch.

That's right, it was coincidence, sure......

I've been thinking the exact same thing.

UGA will just have to recruit more out-of-state if there aren't enough local players to go around.

i think their athleti**** matters more than size

Big = Good
Athletic = Better
Big & Athletic = Jackpot

Basically, I think you'll see bigger, squatter guys that can get low. When we say "athletic", you're talking about a flexible guy that can stay low and fire out through a block. We do a fair amount of conventional blocking, too, but the key is finding guys that can really fire off the line.

I'm also curious about Pat Martin. He's appeared on a couple of Scout articles as being high on the Jackets. Scout says he's a safety, but he weighs 210 as a junior. I have to think that by fall of 2011 he would be the right size for ILB, if he were to play with us.
