Welcome to Week 3 of the BTC (Butthurt Trading Contest) Market. If you don't know what this is, check out the rules thread here:

https://www.stingtalk.com/board/threads/coits-butthurt-trading-contest.89117/

Opponent: Vanderbilt
Point Spread: GT -7.5

The Opening Price for Butthurt this week is $104. This comes from the Week 2 closing price of $97, adjusted downward by 12.5% due to the win, and a 20% upward Butthurt adjustment made due to GT not beating the point spread. Again, I believe that this minor increase is reflective of the mood within the community of slightly increasing butthurt.

Post your trade in the thread, with the other party to confirm the trade by replying. All trades will be tracked in the log below.

I think this is the first real week where trading butthurt makes sense.

There appears to be a lot of negative nancys in our midst. If that's you, and you think we are going to lose or not beat the spread, you need to be buying butthurt. If you think this is the week we are going to beat the spread, you need to be selling.

The BBB (butthurt bonus bank) is at 20% this week, so a loss would result in a 90% increase in the share price.

This whole idea is stupid since you are setting the price

Just my opinion

When you say I am setting the price, I assume you mean that I am setting it by rule, which is true. However, the price is free to fluctuate based on offering price as indicated in the rules. So I am not setting anything but the starting price for the week, which is based on the teams performance in the prior week.

Whatever, bro, i dont see how the price starts changing when people start buying and selling

You have now held shares for several hours at the initial price. In an actual exchange the price would likely have already gone down because no buys...

...

Question, @coit - will you be updating the portfolio values each week? Monthly? End of season only? Interested to see how I as well as others do as the season progresses but I understand it might be a lot of work.

You ninja edited on me!

Look at the thread. People are offering to buy or sell. If a transaction is made, the new share price is the transaction price.

They are updated in the Summary tab in the spreadsheet. Comparing dollar change and % change to the starting portfolio values.

So why even have an initial price?
Whatever; i think its silly to try to make something actual out of a joke that doesnt really mean much 'based on fundamentals', its not like youre tracking real data like ticket sales, number of callins to the radio show or any other actual data (except whether we beat the spread)

Btw, we are gonna take Vandy to the shed and whoop them good imo

To stimulate trading. As I said in the post you disliked, if you think we are going to win this week, you should sell your butthurt. If you think we are going to lose, you should be looking to buy. Because the price will adjust as per the rules, which is intended to reflect the amount of butthurt in the fanbase.

Didnt mean to dislike it, fat fingers on my phone

So its more like a russian exchange? I think a silly and basically nonsensical idea but have fun with it!

It is really not much different than playing a prediction contest.

I had the same thought about him setting the price but the market won't move on its own because "butthurt" has no real value. So he's trying to stimulate trading by artificially increasing or decreasing the price so people can make money off of it.

Anywho, the novelty of it kinda wore off. It did go from being a joke to something stupid. But hey kudos to coit for at least trying.
