See below stat comparison of 2024 thru 10 games to 2023 results and my (no doubt imperfect) observations below....

Defense
Huge improvement in defense led by improvement against the run aided by fewer TO's by offense. 4 of 28 TD's allowed directly off of offensive or special teams miscues. The defense has no doubt made really good improvement though in part due to the offense cutting way down on TO's. Still not generating sacks at the level you would like and this weighs on the passing defense stats. The improvements to the D this year remind me a lot of the improvements to the O in 2023. Key continues to do a good job of attracting and selecting assistant coaches.

Offense
Somewhat of a drop off in offense led by injury issues (King, Haynes, & Others), drop off in run offense (though still good), lack of TO's gained by defense, and missed FG's. Losing ~1.5 pts per game for missed FG''s which is the difference between 72nd and 56th in Scoring Offense. Throw in some extra scores off TO's and the offense would be about the same as 2023.

Good post. A couple notes:

1. It doesn't seem to be showing in the stats for sacks, but I'd venture to guess that if you included hurries and TFL the improvements in the front 7 would show up.
2. We're doing a great job of protecting the ball, but if we were even average at creating turnovers we'd have a different view on our team this year. It's tough to really create separation in a game without stealing some possessions.
