In that interview last week, Brent Key mentioned that Maddox had been chosen by him as one of the team captains because of not only his professionalism but the way he's performing right now. I think you're going to see him in some short yardage situations. Dude is a beast.

I think we're also going to see some interesting formations. I would not be surprised to see them all 3 on the field at the same time. I also wouldn't be surprised to see sets with no RBs and 3 or 4 TE's.
 
Per my quick count

We have 26 players 300 lbs or bigger.
Colorado has 15 players 300 lbs or bigger

We have 55 players 6'3" or taller
Colorado has 36 players 6'3" or taller.

The drop off from starters to reserves should be steep for Colorado. They essentially have to play a perfect game. There is always the risk that Lewis is a baller and throws lasers to fast WR's, but overall, we should be much more physical than them in the trenches. A warm night gets into depth and we have plenty there.

That said, I am a GT fan. As I have said numerous times at a ballgame "this is familiar". We seem to have a way to stumble through games we should easily win.

I hope our DL is as dominant on the field as they look on the depth chart. I hope our OL and TE's road grade the Colorado defense on the way to an easy win. As a GT fan though, I'm nervous. This is the type of game the school 60 miles east would put away in the first half. Let's see if we are worthy.

I attended a lot of those games over the years. I think it was almost like the football scene in the movie MASH sometimes. You just would go "well, there goes that guy. We probably should have tried to stop that play". There was a certain resignation at times that "well, this is just how it is" that was calming and soothing. "Go into the light....so peaceful....."

On top of that, Godsey talked about how we’re going to have all these different personnel groupings and a huge number of plays in our playbook. It makes me uncomfortable.

We’ve not done well in the past with overly complex schemes no matter how academically inclined our school is. Hope I’m wrong here.
 
I hope Godsey keeps it on the simple side Thursday night. We don’t need a bunch of penalties. Hopefully we can pound them with our running game. What’s CO’s DL look like? I hear their LB’ers are pretty good.
 


It is amazing I was at all but the away NC State game and those videos seem so ancient now. Sad.
