2027 Recruiting

That was one of them. The other is from 92.9 The Game. There will be some on here who will not like his transparency about last season when GT was ranked #7. The fact that he is as brutally honest as he is, frankly is a breath of fresh air.
What did he say about when we were #7?

What did he say about when we were #7?
Steak: How do you reflect on the end to last season. CBK: “I’ve been asked that so many times. Look going back, we won at Duke and we were 6-0 and were elevated to #7 in the country. We were no way close the #7 team in the country. We escaped at Colorado, at Wake Forest, Clemson. We were lucky to win those games. We could have been 2-4….”

Steak: So you felt the NCSU type game was coming. CBK: “I knew it was coming. I didn’t say it like that, but when we beat Clemson, I walked in and said to the staff, guys, congratulations we won, but here’s what we didn’t do well, and all the things we need to get better at. The staff acted like what’s going on, we just won a huge game in OT..”

Steak: But you knew your team well enough to know that you’re playing with fire….CBK: “Yes. Correct. And the more I stayed the same, the staff was acting like ahh he’s just crazy…..The other side of it was, ooooh I don’t want to make a mistake to mess things up, because it’s been good so far.”

Steak: Do you believe in the rat poison mindset being on Saban’s mindset all those years. Because I was here, and everyone is like, look at Tech their 7-0, undefeated ranked #7….CBK “99% chance we’re gonna make the Playoffs….”

Went onto to say the staff talked to the team about trying to ignore the noise, but it’s hard to do regardless. It’s human nature.

If have enough cash left for this guy after the last few weeks that is stellar roster management or we have a lot of money to spend.

Do we still have the guy we hired from the Bears to do that? That was 2 or 3 years ago, forgot his name.

Its going to be interesting to see if we can hold on to the whole group -especially the DTs , the WR fom NJ, and the LB from Ala. for examples.
Signing date is FEB?

Thank you, and double thanks for sparing me Shapiro.

The interesting part is going to be playing these guys early. If they can contribute, they should definitely play. Playing helps them if they can run up their stock, but if they are helping us, so much the better. We are already paying them...

If they are the types that are going to leave anyway you might as well get production out of them.
Expect that everybody will leave. Going to be harder and harder to keep really good players unless there is some attachment to Atlanta. So what if they leave. Go get somebody better. Always be looking. It's a new world, and we now have the same chance uga, Auburn, Clemson, FSU always had on the recruiting trail. Only reason a player should chose uga over Tech now is because he wants to drive like a fool in suburban neighborhoods.

IMO, Key got caught with his pants down last year. Always be looking. A HC should have a pretty good idea who the next OC and DC are, and be ready to pull the trigger quick. I will always wonder if we would have had as many players follow Buster if Key could have told them privately that Godsey was coming.

But just damn if Key isn't doing something great now! I never expected to see Tech have this many 4 stars in a year. Maybe in a decade, but not in one year.

If GT starts dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides they will take the ACC by storm. That was Clemson's key to success for so many years in the not too distant past. Their offensive line and defensive line were top-notch. They had good skill players of course but it starts in the trenches. Then success will breed more success. Plus the fact that Georgia Tech can give benefits to those who choose to stay and graduate that the other schools simply do not.

If the 5-for-5 rule is put in and not blocked by rogue judges, that will all change.

And Dabo was able to hire awesome assistants too.

Not just Clemson's key. Look at what Kirby did at UGA and what Saban did at Alabama. The first thing they did was to stock the lines with guys who could control the LOS.
