Time's running out on summer, but thankfully, I'm just starting my 3 week summer break from school. I've always liked seeing everyone's opinion about players, so let's play the game we play every fall.

1. Who is going to be Tech's MVP this fall?
Greg Gathers--All American, leads ACC in sacks.

2. Who will surprise us with his performance?
Tony Hollings--My guess is that he'll learn to hold onto the ball, and he'll have some big games.

3. Who needs to step up to fill a hole or his potential?
Alfred Malone--We need some big time play on the interior defensive line. He can be a HUGE players on the line.

Let's hear your thoughts, Stingtalkers!!!

1. Daryl Smith-Best football player on the team.
2. Jonthan Cox-I think he is going to help answer our questions on the corner.
3. Marvious Hester-He had a good spring, but we really need him to be a steady cover man for us. He is going to have to stay consistent.

MVP - Daryl Smith

Surprise - Reggie Koon

Step up - Sidney Ford/AJ Suggs

1. Who is going to be Tech's MVP this fall?
Daryl Smith - Best LB in the conference.

2. Who will surprise us with his performance?
I agree it might be Tony Hollings, but I think it could be any of the RBs. One of Tony Hollings, Jimmy Dixon, or Jermaine Hatch will be the surprise.

3. Who needs to step up to fill a hole or his potential?
Hobie Holiday - he was so highly touted when he came in...hopefully he can perform up to that level. We need either him or Hargrove to play well and get pressure on the QB, especially if Gathers is being double teamed a lot.

Everybody seems to be forgetting Sidney Ford.
I predict he'll the starting Tailback by 3rd game and have a breakout year...

Gold,

Sidney has got a chance. It obviously hurt him to miss the spring. The thing that Sidney has never really shown is great vision, but I guess that comes with playing time. If he gets in the hole, he can do a lot of damage.

That is the thing that stood out to me about Hollings, he has great vision and makes real nice cuts.

MVP: Gathers. His pass rush will relieve the
pressure on our DBs.

Surprise: I think Hargrove will emerge this season.

Need: We need Suggs to play up to his potential
at QB.

1)Gathers or Smith. Hard to pick between these two studs!!

2)Gordan Clickscales. Feel he is going to surprise everyone. He's going to be one of many that get the ball out of the backfield IMO. He's worked his tail off in weight room obviously. He showed a lot in spring. He may not be the star, so to speak, but feel he will turn some heads.

3)QB, just have a qb to lead this team!!! Thats so important. If it's two of them leading then so be it.

GREAT THREAD INDIAN BUZZ!!!

1/MVP: Gotta bee Daryl Smith. There's no limit to what a healthy, experienced D. Smith can do for our defense. He could be the anchor to the "D". In the words of Wes Durham "Welcome BACK big fella!"

2/Breakout Surprise? Tough to pick. We have so many needs. Could be a DB like Houston or Poree or either Hobie Holiday or Hargrove to take pressure off Gathers or one of many RB's including Jimmy Dixon or Tony Hollings.

3/Who's gonna stepup? I agree that QB is gonna be crucial. Suggs OR Bilbo could be KEY to a big season for us. Having said that, someone off the bench may have to step up BIG to relieve someone on the Offensive Line. The OL is the single biggest key to our success this year IMHO!

1) MVP - Jonathan "Fred" Smith - he looked amazing in the spring practices and game. Look for him to have a breakout year

2) Suprise - Key Fox, look for him to prove that our linebacking corp is as deep and talented as any in the nation

3) Step it up - One of our stable of RBs. We have so much potential at this position. One of these guys just needs to show what they are capable of

Most valuable player: Daryl Smith

Biggest Surprise: Entire Defense

Most likely to step up and plug a much needed hole: Jimmy Dixon

ContactBuzz,

Very good point on OL!! I hope our OL scares some people (FEAR THE BEE) like your icon does me. Took one look at you and can see what happened to my icon!

That's it. Could this be the year our DL and OL are frightening to other teams? I don't want people to want to face us. FEAR THE BEE BABY!

Axe

I agree, but I think Ford hits the holes quicker than anyone I have seen over the past 2 years, and I like his explosion...I hadn't really noticed the field vision thing, but I'll look for that this year.

I still think he'll surprise some folks this year

1) MVP - D. Smith, we saw the night and day difference he makes in last year's Clemson game.

2) Surprise - The defensive backs. They will reap the benefits of the DLine and Linebackers' play.

3) Step up - the Oline (as a whole). If the Oline can gel early then the QB and RB issues will resolve themselves.
