the difference is the Terps 2 losses have come against Top 15 competition.

The loser of this game will be at least a 2nd tier team in the ACC this year. This will be the most difficult test yet for our new coaching staff.

And their wins have been against high school teams. Sorry but WVU has >< that much defense.

We stop the turtle running game they lose. Simple as that.

The biggest difference in this game is the coaching.

The Fridge has taken a team with less talent than us, and that has significantly been hurt by injuries just like us (they lost their QB in the spring, lost their star running back, etc.). and with the very fine staff that he put together, has this team improving every week. They have gone from looking like a weak, low talent team, to a decent and legitimate threat.

On the other hand, we have a very talented team that has also been hurt significantly by injuries, but has been essentially able to reload due to the very fine talent and depth that Coach O'leary built up as he built up the program (5 straight bowl games....one of only 5 teams to finish in the top 25 for the last 5 years in a row).

Unfortunately, we have a head coach that is still trying to learn how to coach Division 1 college ball, and a coaching staff that for the most part looks like it was either drawn out of a hat, or selected because the head coach met them in a grocery store sometime in their lives.

The Fridge could take our players and stomp his. I just hope that our staff will let our players play, and if they can't coach them up, at least don't coach them down, by punting on 4th and inches and calling timeouts to let the other team score, etc., etc.

Hopefully, our head coach will let our best players play, and allow our best offensive and defensive schemes to be run with fire and purpose. And play to win.

This game can and probably will be a defining moment; not only for this team, but also for this coaching staff, and the program as a whole. If the spiral-down syndrome is allowed to continue, it can be hard to stop; as we all know too well from the not too distant past...a past that we thought was way behind us under Coach O'leary; but under Coach Gailey it appears, as Satchel Paige once said, "Don't look back, something might be gaining on us." Unfortunately, with this new staff, what is gaining on us (and what caught us against Wake) is not pretty; a situation that was not necessary.

Let us hope that our players will overcome all obstacles and defrost the Fridge tonight.

Go Jackets.
